In 2026, the rules for the iPhone 17 Pro Max are very consistent, but there is one major "trap" to avoid. 1. If you buy from the Apple Store (apple.com) Yes, it is unlocked. Whether you pay in full or use Apple Card Monthly Installments, the phone comes unlocked from Day 1. The T-Mobile/Verizon/Boost Exception: Even if you choose one of these carriers during checkout at Apple to get a special deal, the phone still arrives unlocked. The AT&T Exception: This is the only "trap." If you buy from Apple but choose AT&T Installment Plans (financing through your AT&T bill), the phone will be locked to AT&T until the device is paid off in full. 2. If you buy from a Carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T) No, it is usually locked. AT&T & T-Mobile: The phone is locked until you pay it off completely. For T-Mobile, this can sometimes take up to 365 days of active service. Verizon: They have a unique "60-day rule." Even if you are still paying for the phone, Verizon automatically unlocks it 60 days after activation, provided your account is in good standing. 3. If you buy from a Retailer (Best Buy, Target, Walmart) It depends on the "Flex Policy." Most iPhones sold at big-box retailers are "Reseller Flex" units. This means they are unlocked in the box, but they lock to the first SIM card (eSIM) you activate. Wish they’d fix the freezing.

It is just like all the others, just different camera lens placement. This one freezes, I have to turn it off and back on to be able to swipe.

Here are a few quick steps to try: Check Silent & Focus modes: Make sure Silent is off and Settings > Focus (like Do Not Disturb) is disabled. Review ringer volume: Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and turn the ringer volume up. Check call settings: In Settings > Phone, confirm Silence Unknown Callers and Call Forwarding are off. Update iOS: Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates. Restart your phone: Power it off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on.

Hi Brittany — we’re happy to help clarify this 😊 Your iPhone 17 Pro Max (2TB) does come with 2TB of device storage, but the 5GB you’re seeing is iCloud storage, which is separate. Apple includes 5GB of iCloud storage by default for backups, photos, and syncing across devices. To check your phone’s actual storage, go to: Settings > General > iPhone Storage — you should see close to 2TB available there. If you need more cloud storage for backups or photos, iCloud plans can be upgraded anytime in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage. Thanks for choosing AT&T 💙

Loving it!

Works well, a few apps needed to be updated, like audible for audio issues using speaker but all is good now. Still need Amazon update to fix my Alexa routines as screen will not allow saving changes. Glass is smooth and does prevent prints very well. Camera is very good. Overall size is perfect for me. Love it so far.

Phones great but swap was bad.

Phones battery life is such a huge upgrade. Photos are great! The service when switching over caused havoc on my business account. My other business main cell phone that receives all incoming calls was turned off, that phone was not being upgraded. My main personal business phone had multiple lines calling it (because they were deactivated without knowledge) Multiple trips to the store to resolve this multiple times.

Transferring files from android to apple is an abs

Switched from Samsung to Apple. Phone is great however when transferring data such as photos the new system they have to transfer misses multiple albums. I’m not talking about a couple hundred pictures. I’m talking thousands. I’ve had this phone since December 5th and I am still carrying around 2 phones. I run a small business some of the pictures I need didn’t transfer. It is 2026. For Apple to be such a “superior” brand there should be a resolution to this issue.
