Description

This sit-and-stand double stroller could be a lifesaver if you have a baby and a toddler. The Caboose Ultralight is the lightest tandem stroller on the market today and offers a compact, smooth ride for your children, and still has a 90 lb weight capacity.

With the Caboose Ultralight, your younger child rides in the front seat (sitting facing forward or using the included infant car seat adapter, while your older child rides in the back, sitting facing backward or standing (a thrill of freedom and independence). The rear bench slides back to create a seat or forward to access the stand-on board. In the seated position, there’s a three-point harness to secure a big sister or brother. Unlike stroller board attachments, the built-in standing platform is highly stable, and it leaves plenty of room for the person doing the pushing. Your child can hold on to padded bars at the side.

The Caboose Ultralight rides smoothly and is easy to maneuver thanks to sealed-bearing wheels, four-wheel suspension, and one-step linked brakes. It can navigate over varied terrain, and its compact size will get you through tight grocery store aisles, Disney trips, tight doorways, and crowded areas.

The extra-large squared-off canopy is quite tall and roomy and tilts forward or backward, with a rear extension covering the back seat. A neoprene organizer on the handlebar has two beverage holders and a zippered pocket, and there’s a very roomy cargo basket below. The stroller also comes with a child tray and a universal car seat adapter.

Q: Does this stroller hold the Britax B-Safe infant carrier? Do I need a special attachment? Also if I purchase the Joovy caboose rear seat attachment can I use that with the infant carrier in the front

submitted by Erika - 8 years ago
  • A: While you can user the rear seat attachment with the car seat, I don't recommend it. The seat attachment doesn't let the child sit up very straight, it's almost like laying down. My kids hated it. When a car seat is on the stroller, a second child can only comfortably ride if they're standing up.

submitted byAmanda - 8 years ago
  • A: I don't have the rear seat but I'm not sure how well that would work. My older son couldn't comfortably use the regular rear seat with the infant carrier hooked on because the front seat had to be reclined so far back to do so. He could still stand in the back but he would have to have bent forward at an awkward angle to sit, if that makes sense. If the extra seat is forward facing, that might help.

submitted byJamie - 8 years ago
  • A: Hello! The Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite is a great stroller! It does have adapters for the Britax B-Safe infant carrier and you can definitely use a rear seat attachment while having the infant carrier in the front.

Q: Does this stroller stand upright on its own when closed?

submitted by Mommyx3 - 7 years ago
  • A: No, it doesn't really stand upright well on its own. When folded, we either hang it on a hook, rest it against something, or lay it on its side.

submitted byBSmith - 7 years ago
  • A: No, The Caboose Ultralight will not stand on it's own. Hope this is helpful!

Q: What brand infant car seats will snap into this stroller?

submitted by MHjelle - 8 years ago
  • A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in the Caboose Ultralight Graphite! This stroller includes a UNIVERSAL style car seat adapter that will work with nearly any infant car seat on the market. It does not click in, but relies on a very sturdy base and secure strap. Here is a link to our car seat compatibility chart that should help: http://joovy.com/car-seat-compatibility-chart/

  • A: The stroller uses buckle straps luke the seatbelt to attach the infant seat in place. So I guess any carseat that has the seat belt loop on the sides can be used with this stroller

Q: How easily could I lift the front wheels of this stroller (with two toddlers) about 6 inches off of the ground and onto a public bus?

Great all rounder!

I am delighted with the Caboose Ultralight Sit And Stand Tandem Double Stroller, which I purchased anticipating the arrival of our second child in a few months. Previously I had a great jogging stroller, but it was too bulky and heavy for travel and, of course, could only fit one child. The Joovy’s compact design and lightweight frame has good maneuverability and conveniently folds. My favourite part is the adjustable sun shade so you can keep the baby shaded regardless of the sun angle. The storage capacity is decent, enough room for essentials. The accessories (e.g. rain shield) are way cheaper than the heavily overpriced equivalents from bigger brand names. I highly recommend this stroller to families seeking convenience and for travel!

Sit n stand not ideal

Kath W - 9 months ago, Verified purchaser
Overall, this is a good sit and stand stroller. I was previously given a friend’s old Graco ready to grow stroller, and found it very challenging to maneuver, poor sun protection. This is much better in those regards. However, my issue with this stroller is the sit and stand portion, and I am surprised the reviews do not comment on this more. In order for my toddler (2 1/2 years old) to sit comfortably in the rear facing seat, the facing seat essentially needs to be in the upright position. This really is not possible with a four month old as it needs to be at least halfway reclined (also needs to be halfway reclined if you are using the car seat adapter), which results in my toddler having to lean slightly forward while sitting on the rear seat and certainly needing to hold onto the bars so that she does not fall off, especially if you are pushing uphill. Additionally, the “standing platform“ is located too far under the seat such that she definitely cannot stand on it and ride, as the seat would be pushing into her knees, and in fact when she is sitting, results in her actually having to curl her legs essentially underneath her in order to rest her feet comfortably on the platform. I love my joovy products which is why I went with the stroller I am a bit disappointed. It seems like you essentially need to get the adapter for the second forward facing seat in the back in order for a toddler to sit comfortably for any prolonged period of time. Ultimately it is fine for a quick ons and offs but I’m not sure it will be once my toddler gets a little bit bigger.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Caboose Ultralight! We appreciate your feedback and want to clarify that the design of the stroller is indeed intended for the oldest child to utilize the bench seat or stand on the platform when their legs need a break. Additionally, the bench seat can be adjusted forward to accommodate standing on the platform comfortably without obstructing knee space or you do have that option for adding on a second rear seat.

This stroller has been our main mode of transportation for 7 months now. With over 1,000 miles of walking it has held up remarkably well. The only issue we've had was the basket wearing out, which joovy replaced under warranty with no hassle! The stroller is obviously longer than an average single stroller, but it's still very maneuverable and the narrow width allows easy navigation through crowded and tight areas.

The best!! I was hesitant to buy because I bought full price (no deal). I have a one and three year old. They love it!!! Three year old is able to sit when he wants. He usually now walks but has the option to sit when tired or needs a break. The front seat goes down when my one year old needs to nap. Wish I bought it sooner. Also it is very light weight! Easy to move around :-)

This is IT!!!! I am absolutely in love with this stroller❤️ I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old and they both love being able to be with each other and my 6 year old feels like such a big girl on the back seat bench. We’re going to Disneyland and it’s perfect for both of them to be able to relax during the day. Plenty of room for storage and so easy to break down. Love this!

Bad for baby without infant car seat

2 out of 5 stars
Elena marie - 2 years ago
originally posted on joovy.com
I regret buying this for my six month old and three year old. I got it because we use a convertible car seat, and it was one of the few double strollers that could handle a preschooler and infant without a car seat attached (but still not a newborn.) However, this is currently frustrating to use. The straps on the front seat are too wide set so they slip off my baby's shoulders. The waist straps loosen themselves. The foot rest looks like it should adjust to provide support for shorter legs, but it doesn't. If you recline the front seat at all, there's not enough room for an older kid to use the bench seat, and it's a tight fit even to stand. So basically the baby can't nap and is constantly on the edge of tumbling out if she's riding with her brother, and it's too big and awkward for me to want to stroll her solo. My preschooler loves the front seat, though, so I think this would be great for two older kids. The sun shade and organizer are both excellent.

The Caboose Ultralight is 23.5 lbs and is actually one of the lightest double strollers in the market. It is also one of the most compact strollers when folded measuring 45.25” L x 21.25” W x 10” H. This stroller was designed for a toddler who is becoming more and more independent and is not riding on the stroller 100% of the time, and has the option to hop on when tired. The front seat has slits in it so you can put the harness in a higher or lower position. Then tighten the harness. The Footrest does adjust by lifting up on it and will lock into position. There is limited room in the back seat when the front seat is reclined but that is when the standing platform becomes a great option.

Likes- both kids are comfy, the shade is bigger than we thought and we like how small it gets when put down. Dislikes- seems slightly on the films side, when both kids are in it that’s when we noticed the flimsy the most. The handle area with the cup holders, you can’t have to big of a cup otherwise your hand hits it. Wish that it was like 5 inches wider and it would be perfect for us.

It’s great when you have kids that get tired on long walks and need a break when you wanna keep going you only need to plan what goes into the basket under the seat if it’s big it’ll be a hassle to get to when the kids are loaded on and the wheels will squeak if you even get them a little wet but it’s an easy fix with some wd40 other than that the stroller is great
1 reply from Joovy_Customer_Support team - 3 years ago
Thanks for your review. The storage basket also has access on the sides for any small items that you may need. If the stroller continues to squeak feel free to contact Joovy's Customer Service Department, they will more than happy to help!

This stroller is a great value! It is so versatile. I bought it because I have a 3 month old and a 2 year old and needed to be able to have my 2 year old ride along when she gets tired. She loves both the sitting position and the standing. There isn't much room when she sits in the rear and the car seat is in front like other people have mentioned in their reviews but it doesn't seem to bother her so why should it bother me. I'm glad I sprung for this lighter weight version as even when folded it's a pretty large stroller...it's a long one but manageable. I have a Hyundai Sonata and it fits in the trunk even with the car seat adapter, it's just a tight fit. The only thing I do not like is it's really hard to get to the basket and the weight limit on the basket is only 5#. I used the stroller basket on my previous stroller for the diaper bag and anything else I picked up as we live in a large city and walk basically everywhere but that's not possible now so I take the bare min and bring a backpack when grocery shopping. That being said, the stroller has done well on all the dips and bumps and it's very sturdy.

Awesome stroller, but the instructions suck. They are all pictures with no words. I’m not a stupid person, but it took me about 30 min to put it all together. Other than that, it’s a pretty lightweight stroller. When it originally arrived, it weighed 37lbs in the box.. why is the box so heavy??? Once I took it out of the box, it weighed as described.
