Q: The description says "Contains: Eggs, Soy, Milk, Almonds, Coconut" - none of these appear to be present in the ingredients list... So, does it actually contain these allergens?

submitted by Ginsomer - 10 months ago
  • A: No. I have no idea why those are listed in the ingredients. The package doesn't say the same. I'm allergic to soy and milk and have been using this flour for months so at least I can attest to its lack of those two allergens.

submitted byTina - 9 months ago

Q: Is this nut free ? My grandson has an extreme tree nut allergy. Also want to make sure it’s made in a nut free facility ( no cross contamination )

submitted by Nana - 11 months ago
  • A: All allergen information can be found at www.kingarthurbaking.com/allergen-program. This item is produced on equipment that also processes wheat, milk, soy, eggs, coconut, chestnuts and almonds.

The BEST GF flour! I use this for everything! Pancakes, muffins, cookies, cakes, etc… Cooks up light, fluffy and wonderfully. Target also has the best price on this larger bag compared to other grocery stores.

I am an avid baker with IBS so unfermented wheat is a big no for me. Tried lots of GF flour replacers and this is the best one! Works very well in cakes, dessert breads, and cookies. Works even better than regular flour in pancakes and some cookies. Behaves very similarly to regular flour and does not give a dry, heavy, or grainy texture like many other GF flours do.

This is the third kind of guten-free flour I've tried and by far the best. I've used it only in brownies at the moment, and you really can't tell the difference. The first (non-KA) g-f flour I tried gave brownies the consistency of Jiffy cornbread mix and the second was only slightly better. Have not yet tried this one with cookies or quick breads, but I'm hopeful. Too bad this stuff is so expensive.

This flour works great as a gluten free option. I use this when making muffins. I generally replace regular sugar for coconut sugar, which tends to make the muffins more moist. I have not tried this when making cookies.

Best GF flour blend I've ever used

5 out of 5 stars
Tina - 9 months ago, Verified purchaser
With this GF flour blend I've made cookies, pies, pancakes, and gravies, to name a few. I have celiac but my partner doesn't; while it's been a while since I've had gluten, he has it on the daily, and swears he can't tell that the food I make is gluten free. In a dramatic recent success, his ultra picky mother sang praises for some cookies I made with it. While other flours certainly can be used as a direct swap for all-purpose flour, this one is the best I've tried - and I've tried a few! I highly recommend it and will continue using it.

So, this claims to be a direct replacement for flour. It did not work in cookies. We have had hockey puck cookies with bob’s mill as well. The baking did not hold together or rise as it should. You probably could make it work with additions like xantham gum and additional leavening agents but don’t claim to be a measure for measure replacement. Namaste gluten free flour works much better if you can find it and truly is an equal parts replacement for traditional flour. On the positive side this will be fine for fried chicken but so is straight almond flour.

I’m not sure why this particular product has such high reviews. This flour reminds me of the taste and texture of gluten free baked goods I would find when I first went gluten years and years ago (back when gluten free options were few and far between) I greatly dislike the spongy texture, the smell, and sorta odd taste that this flour gives baked goods. There are much better options out there. I wish Target carried a greater variety of gluten free flours in store

The best gluten free alternative to flour! Can be used in the exact same manner as flour in any recipe. Doesn't have that gritty texture that you get with other flour alternatives. Will continue to buy this one over and over.
