Getting it repaired would have been an expense and a large pain in the butt, so I bought a new one. Same colour, even. I liked it so much, used it a fair amount, have a couple of attachments — could not think of being without it. Works perfectly, as usual, as expected, as it should. The old one had a little spring on the shaft to which one attaches the beater or whisk; the new one does not. Is that a faulty machine? Seems to me the spring was necessary.

My partner has wanted a kitchen aid for so many years and I have always been resistant as I had an old Bosch… after spending months researching mixers, we bit the billet and bought this one, everything is a breeze! It’s quiet! It makes great cookies, we are looking for other attachments to expand our experience. This is a phenomenal mixer for your basic baking, kitchen needs. If your wondering is your should buy it, I highly recommend you do!!

I’ve had and use this mixer weekly for about six months now and while I use it, I absolutely despise it. When gathering supplies I have to make sure that the one thing I cannot be without is a HAMMER! Sure, I did not purchase the most expensive mixer, but myself, my 27 year old son, the neighbor nor the circus strong man would be able to get the bowl off of the stand…sometimes for hours. I made divinity for Christmas and as many people as possible were standing around the mixer dipping spoonfuls out of the bowl that was still attached to the mixer, and stayed attached to the mixer filled with hot water while we tried to decide how we were going to get the bowl off this time since the old tricks didn’t work. So, we dipped out the water, after deciding to trash the whole thing if needed and hit the handle at least five times. What did not work: Lubricating the surface/bottom of bowl Trying to hold bowl steady so it doesn’t lock in so tight Stretching the area where the bowl locks in Buying 4 different bowls (do NOT) attempt to dislodge the glass bowl, even with a rubber hammer! That bowl is gone. Etc… I love Kitchen Aide and want to love my mixer because it’s used often, but I DESPISE THISE MIXER! It makes baking days so complicated.
