A: This is an awesome mixer. Yes it is very heavy to lift but stays put on your counter when you're mixing on high speed. My last Mixer on high speed moved so much it literally flew off my counter when i wasn't looking

A: Hi Shsri, KitchenAid made the decision in 2016 to no longer place the spring on the beater shaft on all Classic and Artisan Tilt Head Mixers. By removing the spring and washer on the shaft, it is a benefit as it leaves the beater shaft much easier to clean without the spring. It is also not necessary for the operation of the unit as the tools stay locked without them.

Frankly, it fell short of my expectation especially when kneading dough as only the hook works on only one part of the dough and I have to stop and manually move it around to get evenly kneaded even in small quantities. I wish the bowl was a bit bigger and had a handle for easier pickup and emptying. Perhaps the hype of the product was too much but I was not too impressed. Full marks on build quality tho!

The only thing is my whisk attachment seems to have gotten a little bent somewhere along the way and the appliance overheats a little sometimes. But it's nothing major and has been running perfectly. It's made things so much easier for me.

I have an old one, and the only issue with it, is it will only start on 4, and so everything flies out of the bowl, and makes a disasterous mess. I did recently purchase one, same thing that I have. White Classic, and just love it. The day it came I used it. So happy. I plan next to get the Pastry Beater. Oh by the way, the other mixer was actully my moms and she and I used it for over 30 years. It sat idle for a few years due to her health, but still works as I said, just on high speeds. Thanks for a great product.

I inherited my Grandma's mixer about 20 years ago when she passed. She'd had it for AGES. This thing really holds up for multiple generations. I did have to replace the knob on the front of it when I purchased the pasta attachment, but other than that it just keeps going. I especially love how easy clean up is and storage of the additional paddles/whisks. I keep it on my counter & just toss them in the bowl. Note: We love baking, but we're not a bakery. I use mine to whip up brownies & cookies with an occasional bread dough every few weeks.
