Love how easy this makes ice cream. It's a little messy when you empty the bowl to pack the ice cream, but who cares....licking the beater and bowl on this is yum yum yummy! Highly recommend if you have a KitchenAid mixer. (Note3: You will need to store the bowl in the freezer in between uses)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely love the KitchenAid Ice Cream Bowl Attachment! It is so easy to use and makes beautifully smooth, creamy ice cream and gelato at home. The attachment fits perfectly onto the stand mixer and the whole process is simple from start to finish. The results have been fantastic — the ice cream comes out with a lovely texture and it is great being able to control exactly what ingredients go into it. It is also really versatile for making sorbet, gelato and frozen desserts. If you already own a KitchenAid stand mixer and enjoy making homemade treats, this attachment is definitely worth having. Excellent quality, easy to use and produces delicious results every time. Highly recommend!

It doesn't get cold enough to make ice cream, everything else in the freezer is hard as a rock.

This is awesome. If you have room just always keep it in the freezer. I put my freezer to -6*F that’s the lowest she goes lol I have put yogurt into it, made some amazing vanilla ice cream, and one of the absolute best ones I’ve done is the coffee ice cream. I also put some rum into a blender with pineapple and coconut cream then put that into it as well! (That is dangerous be careful lol) In 30 mins you have a nice soft serve, and let it be in the freezer (after removing it from the bowl first of course) and you have ice cream. I hope it continues to be good since I’ve had it for about a month only?

I used my new ice cream maker attachment for the first time yesterday. It worked great and the ice cream turned out so good. BUT we cannot remove the bowl from the Kitchenaid! We've tryed everything and it won't budge. I'd really like to see Kitchenaid step up and address this problem, because evidently we're not the only ones experiencing this!

Works great! Super easy and user-friendly. Makes the perfect amount of icecream in just a few short minutes. Easy to clean and doesn't take up too much space in the freezer.

A bit of a learning curve, but works as intended. I made gelato, ice cream and sorbet.

I own the previous version of this and only used it about 5 times. While it worked well, it didn't last. Today I found that all of the goo had leaked out and I spent a long time cleaning the cabinet, all of the other items and then throwing away the bowl. Regular soap and water didn't remove all of the stickiness so I used a cleaning product. I took very good care of this and was very careful when washing. It was safely stored in a cabinet. Very disappointed.

Love that I don’t have to have another piece of equipment taking up space. Also I can control the speed. Works great!

I’m amazed and impressed. The attachment is sturdy, well made, and easy to use. The instructions under-promise and the attachment over-delivers. My ice cream is usually ready in 10 - 15 minutes and the texture is table- ready. Much better than others I’ve used in the past.

I had been eyeing off this product for many months and since being given it for my birthday, I hate it. I've used it four times and I don't think I'll ever use it again. It didn't come with any recipes, and the provided instructions are minimal and not very clear. I had to look up videos and instructions online as not even the KitchenAid website was helpful. It takes a lot of space in the freezer. It's quite high so I have to remove the drawer to fit it in my freezer. The drive assembly doesn't fit easily on the machine- it's meant to slide in but with the metal skirt it never sits flat and can take a few attempts to connect to the dasher. When you have it all attached there is almost no space to pour in your mix. Unless you use a piping bag, it's very messy. I have never been able to churn for the recommended 20-30 minutes. It gets stuck and starts skipping after about 10-12 minutes. My record is 15 minutes. It's also inconsistent at mixing. The bottom is always colder and stiffer, the middle section better churned but the top section has done hardly anything. The texture of the finished ice-cream is inconsistent as a result. It's difficult to remove the ice-cream once churned. The dasher holds a lot of mixture and it's a fiddly shape to clean. The bowl is also quite deep and narrow so it's hard to get enough leverage to scrape out semi-frozen mix. It's a great idea and it looks nice but it'd never recommend it to anyone. I find it hard to believe it has so many positive reviews.

I purchased this 16 months ago and have used it four times. It worked beautifully - so quick, and very creamy results. However, today I got it off the shelf to freeze and the gel had leaked out of the unit, into the box, and all over the storage shelf. It's no longer usable. It had never been dropped or abused in any way. I always followed the directions about allowing it to thaw completely before washing and storing. Such a disappointment.

I would give this a 0 but that was not an option. This attachment slips and puts plastic shavings into the ice cream. I have only used it once and plan to return.

The ice cream maker did not fit my older model Kitchen Aid, however the model # was not listed as not workable with the ice cream maker. So disappointed, I can’t have dairy so I was looking forward to making my own dairy free ice creams.

I loved this ice cream attachment and had used it for 2 years now! Sadly was making ice cream the other day and while it was churning I smelled a terrible chemical smell and the bowl was leaking all over the place. Just disappointed since I feel like I babied it and there was no reason for it to be cracked !

My wife and I were excited to finally get the chance to use our KitchenAide to make ice cream! Unfortunately, after setting the machine up and starting it per the instructions, when we began to pour our mix into the ice cream bowl the drive shaft snapped and fell apart almost immediately. This must be some kind of manufacturing defect, as the dog clutch should have disengaged the shaft if too much torque was applied, but it didn’t even begin to skip before the shaft snapped. What makes this worse is that I can’t seem to find a way to get a replacement part for this. When I try, I keep getting re-directed to Whirlpool’s website, which doesn’t recognize the ice cream accessory’s model number. I’m disappointed in the quality of this product, and the experience overall.
