Learning Resources Ten-Frame Floor Mat Activity Set: Kindergarten Math & Counting Kit with Educational Tiles

My students love the ten-frame floor mat! They are used to working with the small ten-frames, but were so excited to try out the large ones!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product comes with two 10 frames. I used it to teach my kids to break the numbers apart ; "one group of 10 with 5 ones left over, what number do I have?" The kids couldn't wait to get their hands on the little circles. We used it to construct numbers through 20 and I also used it for subtraction and addition.

Our math program relies heavily on the use of ten frames for counting, number relationships and addition and subtraction. I wanted a different way for my students to utilize a ten frame during math time. This ten frame floor mat was the perfect solution. First, I was able to demonstrate concepts to a larger group of students. The size and color were very appealing to the kids. The students took turns using the mats with partners and small groups. The materials seem durable. I wish the materials came with a storage bag. The students loved them. I would definitely order another set or two for the classroom. The activity guide has information which aligns with the common core. Currently, we are studying teen numbers and how to decompose. The double mats work well for instruction. Students can use the mat independently to practice teen numbers. The foam circles and mats seem durable for use by 37 students.

I received this product as part of an incentivized review program. This product contains foam circles to use on 2 large ten frames. The ten frames are designed to use on the floor. We used it in kindergarten to show ways to compose and decompose teen numbers. For example, we used it to show 18 on both 10 frames and that 18= 10 + 8. After we explored how to show teen numbers on the ten frames, the students worked together in pairs to say and show a teen number on the ten frames. It worked well with small groups and I would definitely recommend this product to my fellow teachers. The floor mats seem durable, and the foam circles seem like they would hold up ok.
