As solid and cool as the original
This unit is as solidly built as the original Land Rover Defenders I would cruise around Nantucket Island in. It embodies the ultimate best of concept, design, and flawless execution that I have seen in a Lego set. I believe these sets combine the complexity of Technic with the fundamental appeal of traditional blocks. I have to say this could be my favorite LEGO build of all times! Kudos.

Missing pieces
I’ve been wanting this set for a couple years but always purchase bigger sets for my son’s collection. I finally decided to treat myself and get this set as a Christmas gift to myself after a very trying year. I was so excited to open it up but never got to start building because it was missing the first piece. Literally, the very first piece in the build is missing. I can’t even start the build and I’m disappointed. More and more sets are missing pieces showing a lack in quality.

Pain to build
Why this isn't listed as technic set, I'll never know, was so fiddly to build and I'm not a fan of technic sets, if I'd known it was so awkward to build I would of avoided it and bought a better set

Flimsy. Think Twice before Attempting
I got this for my birthday as the Defender 90 is my favourite/dream car. I was looking forward to the build but I slowly realised that perhaps I had taken on more than I can bite. I typically build Lego Modular and buildings and I find the Technic elements complicated. During the build process there are constant elements falling (like the exhaust pipe and the wind shield) and the roof was very frustrating to attach to the wind shield, to the point where I actually took part the parts attached to the windshield and triple-checked that I built it correctly (I did). Whilst I agree with the other comments that this set has good Technic elements combined with brick-built elements, I do not find the building process enjoyable and find a set of this price and size too filmsy. Not at all good value for money and this is coming from a loyal AFOL and Defender lover!

More sets like this one, please
Just finished building this one. It took a while day. Had fun building it the whole time. And it looks amazing on the shelf. It also nicely fits the other models. It would be good to have more sets like this one. Maybe a Jeep.

Ease of building
I have found the kit very frustrating from a build viewpoint. It certainly exercises my brain which is why I purchased the model kit.

Not a great build
A total of 6 pieces were missing from the seat of the vehicle and was missing the sticker sheet. Lego vehicles are some of my favorite builds but I did not enjoy this one very much.

Building a Lego vehicle….
In the last few months I have built a few technics vehicles, and perhaps naively thought that the Land Rover would be similar- well, put simply, it’s not really. The Land Rover is made up mostly of LEGO, there are technics sections (chassis, steering, outer parts of the body etc), but the rest is normal LEGO. I enjoyed the build, it wasn’t as long as I expected; the first few bags take a while, but after that it’s pretty quick. I haven’t got a clue why the accessories are in bag 1, they sat on my desk for a few days waiting for the rest of the build to complete so I could place/attach them. being Lego (rather than technics) makes it less fiddly and slightly more intuitive however the end result isn’t as stable (I knocked various pieces off several times during build) so less easy to play with. I don’t usually track how long it takes to build but I did it quicker than expected, I’m guessing no more than 6-7 hrs of build. Because there are options on build towards the end you’ll end up with spare parts, more than you might expect (if you put the winch on there is nowhere to place the front number plate; they give you 2 rear number plates as well, there are 2 engines)., so be prepared to store. I liked the outcome, it looks good, I didn’t spot any Easter eggs.

Lego Technic Fan
I enjoyed building this Defender classic 90 although it’s smaller than the last Lego Defender that I built. This is my sixth Technic purchase. The 90 was a pleasure to build and kept me busy for several days, I thoroughly recommend this to any Lego fan.

Rewarding build
Much preferred the build on this classic Land Rover to the build on the new edition Defender. The classic uses a bit of Technic to have working pieces, but layers in traditional LEGO well for the car body. The new Defender had a very tricky Technic build of the transmission that took ages, and body panels are mostly one piece of plastic

Great Build!
I really enjoyed building this set! The details are amazing. The only critique I have is that I wish the interactive instructions were available. I would have benefitted from the 360 view. Also, tying the little "cable" to the winch was trying. It came undone at least 3 times before I could get it tight enough. I used a particular fishing knot, a square knot, and a couple of others. It ended up staying, but it was certainly a challenge! The finished product is amazing. Patience is key, but it is worth it! We all know Lego can be cost prohibitive, but if you can gather the money up it is a very nice show piece...with working shocks!

Flimsy
This build was so incredibly frustrating. For some reason it seems like I can barely touch it and pieces fall off. I have the rack on the top and it is awful. The windshield does not fit like it’s supposed to. I have checked all of my pieces and they’re just fine. The set looks super cool, and it was fun to put together for the most part. It is just one of many sets I’ve completed, and it is by far the biggest headache

Generally Good
Although the set in itself is a good build my experience was somewhat disappointing after having to request missing parts on two occasions (So far)
