Q: Is this a toy kids can play with in water or is it for display only?

A: Hi there! As a diorama for Jaws fans, this set is mainly designed with display in mind and the boat doesn't float in water. - John, LEGO® Customer Service

I love this kit - the gear on the boat and fidelity to the movie boat are awesome - my favourite kit so far from this perspective! But the bow construction desperately needs a rework. As many reviewers have said, the bow structure depends on a one stud connection on each side between the 6301857/11477 plate with bow and a 1x6 plate, that collapses into a million pieces with little pressure, like when attaching the side hull or angled pieces to the bottom. I bought mine about nine months ago and I see in looking at the building instructions online that LEGO has now engineered what looks like a more stable bow structure. I probably have the pieces on hand to do this myself but LEGO should really make it available for free to anyone who has purchased the kit.
It is so detailed beautifully

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The detail in this Lego said is amazing. My family and I spent an entire week putting it together and kind of just wanna display it forever. Jaws has always been a nostalgic movie in our house and it was a real treat to do this as a family fun night.
Awesome Jaws Collector keepsake.

Target did an excellent job of packaging this Jaws Lego set. It arrived In perfect condition. If Target packed action figures, Blu rays, and 4K steelbooks this way they would never have to do any returns. Thank you Target!

I love that it's Jaws because it's such a classic! What do I dislike? The hull is ome big pain in the behind to put together! The order in which you put it together was VERY poorly thought through. Each step that follows after the basic construction is pretty much designed to make the thing fall apart. Make sure you have an endless pool (or ocean?) of patience to get through this project! Oh, and make sure you don't have long nails!

This set needed to be spend more time in the design lab before release. It is an incredibly fragile build. The bow especially is a tedious experience. For the cost, this needed to bei much better. I recommend gluing some of the more problem areas together (you will quickly figure out which ones those are) which should never be the case for a Lego set.

I used have a lego set when I was little, but it was just one of those red suitcases with three slots filled with bricks. I've been looking for something that can help with my anxiety and got lured here by the one piece sets. Then I saw JAWS which is my comfort movie. So much has changed since I used to play with legos! But the instructions are great, and having thirteen bags for each chunk of the build allows to focus only on accomplishing that part, and at the end success! It's really helpful for me.

$149?! Give us a break. This is such a great idea for a Lego set, but not at that price. Lego has gone hog-wild on their pricing. It's ridiculous.

I wish I had read some of the negative reviews prior to buying. I give up trying to get the bow to stay together, which is about a quarter of the way through the set. I really looked forward to this set, but I'm done with it.

The idea and the look are beautiful, and the finished scene is unusually dramatic and exciting. Generally speaking the bow of the boat is WAY too sensitive. Specifically, those pretty blue pieces (part number 6071246) always fell off mid-build & caused the bow to fall apart. I almost gave up completely but finally decided those pieces did not seem critical to supporting the structure and left them out. The shark also shed some pieces when I unhooked his top half from the shark stand to pose him at the rear of the boat. An aggravating build requiring considerable care and patience but one that was ultimately rewarded with a scene that really impresses anyone who sees it.
Good set needs better base

Took me and my boyfriend 5 hours to build this set its a great set and looks cool, my only negative is the base is a bit flimsy and kept falling apart when you put bits on top which was a bit frustrating it needs a sturdier base
1 reply from LEGO® Customer Service team - 1 month ago
Rough seas shouldn't be a part of this diorama, since the crew have enough problems as it is! Have you tried rebuilding the base while making sure every piece can connect firmly together? If this doesn't solve it, visit LEGO.build/Service-BV to speak with our experts.

As of being someone who’s never watched jaws it came out just so good you don’t have to watch the show, although putting the front of the boat and the front of the shark on was difficult, and if mistakes were made you would only notice after it’s difficult to take off, difficult building techniques but overall a fun experience
Poor bow design

Usually don't bother with reviews but bow section of ORCA is both poorly designed and it seems as if no one did any QA on the difficulty of construction when following the building instructions. I came to this forum to find out if others were having the same issues and hoping to find some solution - call us for help is not a solution. I wonder if someone at LEGO not connected with the design/qa of this has ever tried to build it - it seems not - "call customer service" is LEGO punting - not something I've come to expect at all

This was my first Lego kit that I have ever built and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't to hard and the instructions were very easy to follow. The bow of the boat was tricky, but that was my fault try to press everything together. I would recommend this kit to anyone

Poorly Designed

This set is poorly designed. The ocean frame constantly crumbles under even the slightest pressure. The shark continues to pop out of place. During assembly. Also, placing the shark on the water is impossible there is literally not enough anchor pieces to support the weight. After hours spent building, the frustration of not completing the assembly has ruined this entire whole set. Very poor design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a huge fan of both LEGO and classic movies, this set was an instant yes for me. Building it was such a cool experience — it has just the right amount of challenge to keep it interesting without being frustrating. The details are insane! From the boat to the shark to the little minifigs, it’s all super well thought out. The way they recreated that iconic scene is seriously impressive. I really appreciated how display-worthy it turned out. Once built, it looks awesome on a shelf — definitely a conversation piece. I do wish the boat was a tiny bit sturdier (some pieces were a little delicate during the build), but overall it came together great. The shark is so well done too — big, bold, and instantly recognizable. I’d absolutely recommend it for any adult LEGO fan or anyone who loves movie memorabilia. It’s a fun project and ends up being something you’ll actually want to show off.

this set is simply amazing. i have no idea what so many other reviewers were talking about with unsturdiness, and troubles with the build. mine was solid and structured through the entire process. even my rope is taught and secure. from the get go i knew i wanted to display it from the backside to portray the beautiful ORCA tile on the boat. so i decided to add some special modifications myself to build the frame of the diorama in a flipped opposite fashion so the logo and quote could be displayed from the backside view. i feel if the designers had put those side mounting bricks on both sides of the frame so u could flip the logo and quote to be viewable from either angle that would have been the icing on the cake. however it wasn’t that hard to create a mirror build to swap sides. included is my picture of my finished display. why lego decided to use the box art image they did is beyond me but imo the way i created it and displayed it is far superior for that iconic pop.

This has been the most FRUSTRATING build I’ve ever put together, and I have done so many. I’ve never had to take apart and rebuild a Lego set like I did with this one. Total waste of money.
