Q: Is this a toy kids can play with in water or is it for display only?

A: Hi there! As a diorama for Jaws fans, this set is mainly designed with display in mind and the boat doesn't float in water. - John, LEGO® Customer Service

This set offers a captivating building experience, especially for fans of the classic Jaws movie. Guests appreciate the intricate details and the fun of assembling both the orca and the shark. While the build is mostly enjoyable, some have noted challenges with the bow's stability. Poorly Designed

This set is poorly designed. The ocean frame constantly crumbles under even the slightest pressure. The shark continues to pop out of place. During assembly. Also, placing the shark on the water is impossible there is literally not enough anchor pieces to support the weight. After hours spent building, the frustration of not completing the assembly has ruined this entire whole set. Very poor design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a huge fan of both LEGO and classic movies, this set was an instant yes for me. Building it was such a cool experience — it has just the right amount of challenge to keep it interesting without being frustrating. The details are insane! From the boat to the shark to the little minifigs, it’s all super well thought out. The way they recreated that iconic scene is seriously impressive. I really appreciated how display-worthy it turned out. Once built, it looks awesome on a shelf — definitely a conversation piece. I do wish the boat was a tiny bit sturdier (some pieces were a little delicate during the build), but overall it came together great. The shark is so well done too — big, bold, and instantly recognizable. I’d absolutely recommend it for any adult LEGO fan or anyone who loves movie memorabilia. It’s a fun project and ends up being something you’ll actually want to show off.

this set is simply amazing. i have no idea what so many other reviewers were talking about with unsturdiness, and troubles with the build. mine was solid and structured through the entire process. even my rope is taught and secure. from the get go i knew i wanted to display it from the backside to portray the beautiful ORCA tile on the boat. so i decided to add some special modifications myself to build the frame of the diorama in a flipped opposite fashion so the logo and quote could be displayed from the backside view. i feel if the designers had put those side mounting bricks on both sides of the frame so u could flip the logo and quote to be viewable from either angle that would have been the icing on the cake. however it wasn’t that hard to create a mirror build to swap sides. included is my picture of my finished display. why lego decided to use the box art image they did is beyond me but imo the way i created it and displayed it is far superior for that iconic pop.

This has been the most FRUSTRATING build I’ve ever put together, and I have done so many. I’ve never had to take apart and rebuild a Lego set like I did with this one. Total waste of money.

I absolutely love the movie, went back and forth on purchasing this and finally grabbed it. I was so excited. I generally like the art pieces best but enjoyed the Cullen house build so figured I would enjoy this as well. Some parts were fun to build but the bow of the ship was a nightmare. I put it together 3 times and each time it fell apart. I thought it was me so checked reviews. I contemplated like others but opted to try again. I got it to stay together but was so nervous to touch or move it for fear it would fall apart and it almost did when moving it to the platform. Also, attaching the underside of the ship after the masts seems counterproductive. Jaws himself is cool until you want to attach him the diorama, then you have half a shark laying around. Overall I like it but had I known what I know now I likely would've skipped it.
Was right to be apprehensive

Like so many others I read the reviews before commencing my build & became apprehensive, concerned that the normal enjoyment I derive from Lego would be impacted by what can only be described as a poor design fault in the construction of the Orca’s bow. And unfortunately, 5 bags in I can confirm these fears were well & truly founded. Any movement or pressure on the bow (once built) causes these 2 little pieces to come away leaving you with 3 options 1) the need to disassemble & refasten these pieces before rebuilding the bow (which you soon realise to be a futile exercise given they come away again so easily) - 2) leave them to rattle inside the hull of the boat any time you pick it up or move it (which you can do given it’s thankfully not essential to the hull’s integrity or 3) use superglue to hold them in place (which I’ve never resorted to before). To save further frustration I’m going with option 2 although, as an OCD builder knowing there are loose pieces inside is already irking me. I felt compelled to write this review because I was hoping for a different experience & that I would somehow avoid the issue detailed by so many before me but should have known this would not be the case. The set still has a lot of value especially for fans of the movie franchise which is why I’d recommend it to others but only for those who have an abundance of patience. The attention to detail with great tie-in’s to the classic movie are all there & save this set from being a rare fail for a company that so often nails it in all aspects. I’ll persist with my build & look forward to displaying the set in my collection once done.
Instructions Dont match the set

Bag 4 is full of pieces that don't match the instructions and does not have the pieces specified by the instructions. In fact several of the pieces are not listed in the inventory at all. Seems to be a known thing as I could find instructions online from non lego sources to build that section and have it work with the pieces provided.

I saw this set presale and knew it was a certainty for our home. Fun, detailed and interesting, sideboard rearranged prior to delivery for display. This is not the sturdiest of builds in reference to the boat but robust enough once complete. This was a pleasure to assemble. The only disappointment is the tail, this can be attached for display on stand or removed for the completed ocean top scene. This may be a pro for some, I personally dislike having the remainder in storage. Recommended for Jaws fans, Lego fans and anyone who likes Lego as home decor.

The set has in my eyes no flaws. It looks absolutely awesome, was surprisingly enjoyable to build and is one of few sets, where the price tag is justified. The display with the ship coming out of the surrounding waves looks awesome and I really hope that Lego will design similar sets for LOTR, Harry Potter, etc. Overall I would suggest it to anyone who is looking for a great display piece for a reasonable price.
Some tricky bits; build order could use some work

The instructions were nowhere near as good as for the Endurance. The placing of the blocks on the bottom of the ship should come before building the mast for example. The bow assembly if very tricky and I had to resort to gluing two pieces that kept popping out whenever I moved on to the next step. The ship should attach to the base better and there should be some space between the head of the shark and the back of the Orca.

The review title may make this seem worse than it is. The end product looks very nice and was for the most part a fun build. Took a fair few hours spread over a weekend. Lots of good details and mostly a fun build to do which isn’t too complex. The only issue for me was the point where the 2 halves of the bow come together: for some reason the pressure of clipping them was dislodging a piece inside causing a rattle, so I had to stop and backtrack several times. Right at the end when placing the Orca on the platform I felt the same thing happen. Boat shapes are tricky to get right with Lego I gather. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else had a similar issue.

Jaws was the first scary movie I ever saw, and a movie that has held up well over the decades. When I saw this set, I knew I had to own it. Overall, great set. Love all the details, the minifigures and how well this set displays. The only issue is the fragility of the bow of the Orca. For me this was minor as it allows the boat to look more accurate, but I could see how it might frustrate others. Very happy with this set.

Worth saving for, the enjoyment dives deep through this set from the first piece to the last. Careful with the string/rigging and I suggest asking someone to help tie the knots. The easter eggs allow fans of the movie to catch and release their own thrill, truely a summer spectacle. I'd rate the minifigs a 3.5 out of 5, and the shark has a couple of inconsistencies on gill direction and tail shape. When displayed, the set looks amazing and outswims in its overall design and buildability.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently picked this up as a Christmas gift for my brother and wow! This was impressive. The moment I got it I knew this was going to be special. I was excited for him to pry it open on Christmas day and build it. After a couple hours of building it. The final product did not disappoint. Honestly the final build is incredibly smooth and well-engineered. Lego has come so far from stubby builds to very creatively built sets. Especially the shark, it’s an animal but Lego managed to make a faithful adaptation and a convincing mimicry of the real animal. The amount of display options is highly appreciated and fun to do. Most sets do not come with a base which is unique and honestly compliments both the boat and shark and allows my brother to recreate scenes from the movie. I love the minimal number of stickers that were applied on the build as, I’m not the biggest fan of stickers. They’re extremely annoying to apply with my fat grubby fingers. It’s an incredible build not only as a Lego set but as a community submitted build. I highly recommend this to any Lego collectors or fans of the classic Jaws movie!

A fun set. Not to difficult to build. A couple of stages needed a second look at the instructions. The boat was enjoyable. I love all the little details. Some you only see while building it. But you know they are there. Bruce the shark had some interesting build techniques. A smaller build but probably my favourite part. One down side is Bruce that if you display the shark in the set you have half a shark on a stand stuck in a draw. Looks good as a display piece.
