My mother used Libby pumpkin and wouldn’t use anything else. I admit l have tried several different varieties over the last 30 years but came back to Libby’s and have not used any other since. Best flavor, perfect pumpkin taste making for wonderful pumpkin products, baked, soups, or chilis. Thank for a consistent product.

Those are the two points I appreciate about Libby’s pumpkin. No additives. Not all pumpkin is the same. Store brands may be cheaper but check the labels. Why do I want pumpkin grown in another country that doesn’t have the same standards as US food production?

I bought 2 cans for thanksgiving and the next day both pies were covered in mold!
1 reply from Libby's® Brand Ambassador team - 10 months ago
Thanks for choosing our products for your holiday baking. We're sorry to hear you found mold on your pies the day after baking. Since the ingredients in a pumpkin pie are so moist and tender, it has a lot of potential to grow mold which thrives in wet, warm environments. Once your cooked pies are cool to the touch they should be refrigerated until ready to be served. Even when stored under refrigerated temperatures, usually between 38-42 degrees Fahrenheit, mold may grow after a week.

This is the only pumpkin I buy for pumpkin soup and pumpkin custard pies. It’s smooth, creamy, & the quality has remained consistent for my entire baking life (40+ years). Highly recommend!!

Why is the recipe for Chai Spice Pumpkin Pie on the label but not on the website?
1 reply from Libby's® Brand Ambassador team - 10 months ago
That is actually just our Famous Pumpkin Pie recipe with a couple additions! You just need to add 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp ground cardamom, 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon and 1/2 tsp ground ginger to that recipe when mixing the dry ingredients and the rest is the same!
Good, convenient pumpkin for baking/cooking except

I have noticed for years when eating pumpkin pies made with Libbey's canned pumpkin, I would occasionally get this grit in my mouth. It became embarrassing when guests noticed it.
Gritty bites of pumpkin 👎 very displeasing.

I don’t understand how the recent positive reviews can be written. Seriously, the recent cans I have used are full of gritty sand. It is awful to be enjoying a bite of pumpkin spice casserole and have that feeling of a foreign crunchy THING in your food. How can you keep producing sandy pumpkin purée? I guess I can get some cheese cloth and strain the purée but that is a lot of extra work. Plus those grains of sand are pretty tiny.
Terrible horrible and disgusting 🤮

I purchased several cans of the 15 ounce can of Libbys Pumpkin. I followed the directions on the can for a pumpkin pie 🥧. I am old enough to remember when a pumpkin pie from a can of Libbys Pumpkin was a treat. I do not feel that way any longer!!!!! The pumpkin did not have any flavor. And the end pie was very displeasing. The pie turned out awful!!!!! After following the recipe the pie was barely sweet. There was no pumpkin flavor!!! A 1/4 cup of sugar is not enough. And instead of coming out of the oven a lovely orange color it is the color of a disgusting brown color. The pie crust was not burnt it was the normal color or pie crust. So the pie was not over cooked. Thankfully it was only for my consumption otherwise I would been embarrassed to have anyone see what a terrible pie the Libbys Canned Pumpkin this pie was. What a shame there is no quality in American products anymore.

We're sorry to hear you had issues baking your pie, but our Famous Pumpkin Pie recipe does call for 3/4 cups of granulated sugar, not 1/4 cup, so that may be where you encountered the issue with the pie you made. Best of luck with your baking in the future!

I just made a crustless pie as I am off flour. Improvised with the recipe off the can which was labeled organic. Not gritty, very smooth, tasted very good considering I also used a new type of sweetener that luckily didn’t have an aftertaste. Even though I love pie crust I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I would and still felt I was having pumpkin pie.

I love what’s inside the can, have had no problem. Has anyone else besides me had trouble opening the current cans? I have used Libby’s canned pumpkin for years but couldn’t open last cans with my electric can opener, even bought a handheld opener, still had difficulty but did get it open. First time I had to use a punch can opener all around the can in order to get into it!!! Help!!!

Bought in North Carolina, there was a miss print on the label with the instructions for one pie not two. Very disappointed as we made the pie totally wrong and now it won’t be what we were normally used to. Just putting it out there for other who may have bought this same misprinted can!

Thanks for reaching out with your concerns. A couple of years ago we did have this issue and we had corrected it beginning for the 2020 pumpkin harvest. We'll be in touch soon by email.

Purchased a can at the store a few days ago and when we opened it, it was brown throughout the whole can. This picture is compared to the target brand pumpkin we buy for my dog, which is nice and orange. I don't know if I want to feed this brown Libby's pumpkin to my dog, let alone make a pie with it like we had planned.

My family and I have been using Libby's pumpkin for at least 40 years. Last week i made some pumpkin bread (by the way, you sell 15oz cans, but if we're making a double recipe you sell 29 oz cans?? Can't you just put in that extra ounce? Sheesh! Ends up wasting$$) Anyway, after making the bread and taking them to work, people started saying they felt like there were tiny hard things in some of their bites. I was completely embarrassed!!! I wasn't sure what happened so I bought all new ingredients and tried again. SAME THING! (Obviously I didn't take these to work...right into the trash!) On the 3rd try, my daughter asked if she could try pumpkin straight from the can to see what it tasted like. First thing she did was spit it out and said "mommy i crunched on sand!" Sure enough, there is what looks and feels like dirt or sand in the pumpkin. What in the world is going on Nestle?? Are the pumpkins not being washed thoroughly? Something certainly has changed, and until it goes back to the way it used to be, I won't be purchasing again... Very sad.

The only concern is the oven baking time. I'd suggest 350F for 2hrs. Otherwise, the recipe for Famous Pumpkin Pie is excellent. Great taste.
