Lysol Laundry Sanitizer Sport is the ultimate odor eliminator. Specifically designed to break down body/sweat malodors on clothing at the molecular level. These malodor molecules are caused by bacteria which thrive on synthetic fabrics and grow from body oil and sweat found on human skin. The molecules are often trapped within synthetic fabrics such as those found in activewear. A: You should also be able to pause/stop your wash cycle in order to unlock the lid to add the item. Most washing machines have this option.

This product can also be added into the fabric softener compartment, not just directly to your rinse cycle wash. Always be sure to measure the amount using the dosing cap that comes with the product.

Q: Can you put it in with the laundry detergent? I’d forget to add it to the rinse cycle.

A: In order to ensure effectiveness, Lysol Laundry Sanitizer must be used in your washing machine during the rinse cycle and as directed on the product label. You don't have to wait for the rinse cycle, because the product can be added via the fabric softener dispenser which dispenses during the rinse cycle. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer should not be added during the wash cycle because the amount of water released during the wash cycle would dilute the sanitizer to a point where it’s no longer effective.

You just have to pour two capfuls each filled to line 1 into 1 gallon of cold water. Submerge completely and soak items for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clean water or machine wash as directed. I 100% believe in this product! It makes my clothes not only smell good, but germ free! Well, WAY less germs compared to not using it. Smells. So. Bad.
The fragrance on this stuff is 1) overwhelming 2) nasty (like floral over cigarettes, gasoline, and another chemical) and 3) “sticky” like … all the scent is on one end of two towels as if it glues onto the item under the dispenser and doesn’t distribute in the wash. Which makes me think the sanitizer doesn’t dissolve well in cold water either. The unscented stuff is better but even with that, cotton kitchen towels I’ve had for 15 years suddenly started to show a bunch of holes so I’m not convinced it’s gentler than bleach.

Got rid of armpit odor left on shirt.
I wear a black body suit out to the bars frequently, and sweat a normal amount throughout the night. Overtime my bodysuit developed a musty/BO scent left in the armpits regardless of how many times I washed it. It was even irritating my armpits. I tried Vinegar, baking soda, NOTHING worked. With more research I discovered you can actually get bacteria on clothing which is what happened. I pre soaked this before the wash for one minute, I did notice the black color seemed to bleed so i quickly took it out but it instantly worked and got rid of the smell I was trying everything to get rid of. Highly recommend but be careful of color bleeding.
