Mateo's Gourmet Hatch Chile Salsa - 16oz

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I were a little bit skeptical when we first received the salsa. A lot of grocery store salsa just aren’t very good. My husband is from Arizona and is a tough critic of salsa. We both absolutely loved this salsa. It was spicy enough for him but not too much for me. The flavor was really good! We loved the citrus notes in it. We will definitely be repurchasing soon!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mateo's medium hatch chile salsa in the 16oz size was soooo good!!! If you like some spice that isn't overbearing, then this is for you. It has good texture with the tomatoes and peppers used. It's easy to pour in a bowl and enjoy with totillas or whatever else you like to eat with salsa. The flavor is really good, you can taste the separate ingredients of this salsa and the spiciness keeps you going back for more and more. I will definitely be adding this into the salsa rotation for sure. This would be really good with quesadillas or in a chili. I think I would even add it to soups and sauces to give them a little zip. Definitely give it a try if you like some heat with good flavor.

Mateo’s Medium Hatch Chile Salsa is the perfect compliment for meat and vegetable dishes. It is tangy, smoky and a little spicy but not overly hot. It is not a thick salsa and while it leans a little on the acidic side, it does not overpower the taste of the food. We first tried it with tacos but now I have been using it as a dip for vegetables as well as stirring in into soups and on my breakfast sandwiches. This is an authentic and fresh hatch chili salsa and they were not kidding about the addiction warning on the label.

Cumin bomb with too much sweetness for my taste, and spice coming in to try to save the day. I did like the "level" of spiciness but would not re-buy and may not finish this.

It has the perfect amount of spice it’s a great on tacos and burritos, as well as on its own, just dipping chips into it. I even added some into a pot of chili that I made, and it definitely improved the flavor. I have already bought another jar so that I don’t run out I highly recommend trying the salsa. It is definitely worth the price.

The consistency of the salsa was more on the thin and watery side. There were a lot of small seeds that were part of the texture and consistency. Even though I didn’t love having so many seeds in the salsa, I understood that it indicated that the salsa was processed to be authentic to the Hatch Chile. The flavor was strong with chile pepper flavor with a little bit of smokiness. It definitely has a different flavor than your typical tomato salsa, but I would consider trying other products from this line.
