Q: Can water be completely emptied from the water reservoir

A: Yes, once the coffee maker starts brewing, all the water in the reservoir is heated and coffee is released into the carafe by the end of the cycle. We also recommend descaling regularly to keep your coffee maker running smoothly — mineral buildup from water can cause blockages over time and cause incomplete brew. A: Yes, the heating plate will stay on for an hour. After that time, UL regulations specify that the heating plate and machine have to turn off.

Best coffee maker ever
When I worked in Housewares in an upscale department store we sold Melitta coffee makers. They were never returned damaged eventhough various manufacturers were. The look is stylish with it's elegant carafe. The temperature is perfect and keeps the coffee hot. The gage for aroma strength is a nice feature. After all these years I can still say, "Melitta makes the best coffee makers."

Love the ability to adjust brewing strength
We have used the coffee maker several times and we like our coffee strong. The dial allows slowing the brewing process to act almost like a French Press getting the most out of the beans. The fast end brews more like "pour over" coffee which is much weaker.

Not worth the cost
The coffee maker worked fine, coffee tasted liked coffee, however, it stopped working after less than a year of daily use. It was also very difficult to pour from without spilling. I would not recommend, it costs too much to last less than a year.

Full Flavor Brewing
Love the style, color and "slow brew" capability of this Melitta 10-cup coffee maker. The melitta cone shape filter brews great coffee - much better than the flat bottom style coffee makers. The white and nickel finish look great against our white marble backsplash and fits under the counter with plenty of room to spare. Finally a coffee maker worth writing about!
