The differences are just the aesthetics of the machine. One main difference is that the Vertuo has a locking mechanism for the 'head' of the machine, that you have to manually lock and unlock, while the VertuoPlus has a lever you tap up to open and tap down to close automatically. A: Starbucks by Nespresso capsules for VertuoLine are compatible with all Nespresso Vertuo machines. We are aware that some companies are manufacturing capsules that appear to be compatible. We do not test the compatibility of competitors’ products with our machines; therefore we cannot comment on this. You may decide to use non-Nespresso capsules in your Nespresso machine. The use of capsules others than those of Nespresso doesn’t invalidate the warranty. Carafe (18 oz) sized capsules are exclusive to the Vertuo Next machine and will not fit inside the Vertuo, Evoluo or VertuoPlus machines.
