This used to be my daughters favorite hairspray for dance. Purchased a new one and it smells like a reptile exhibit. Absolutely “horrendous” per my daughter. I never return things and this is going straight back.

I've used this hairspray for years, and whatever they've done to the scent is awful. At first, I thought I just got a bad batch, but three new cans all smell the same - putrid! I don't know if it holds like it used to because I'm not putting this rotten fish spray on my hair :(

I have been using this hairspray for years and I use a lot of hairspray. This was always my absolute favorite until you changed the smell. It now smells like something rotting, like dead fish or dog poop. I had to return the can I bought that smelled so foul. Now every time I go to the store, I smell every single can that’s on the shelf hoping to find an old one, but they all just smell like death. Please Nexxus bring back the old scent. The new one is horrible and you are losing customers.

Alright, so when I first bought this, I was aware of the scent reviews. I read it smells “foul” and smells like “dead fish”, so I was worried at first. Yes, at first it smells a little bit weird at first (especially when you’re expecting it to because of the reviews you’ve read), but once you realize it is supposed to smell like golden magnolia, you can definitely smell the floral scent. A lot of these reviews are misleading, so if you’re about to buy this, know it holds great, smells like flowers, and lasts a very long time.

I now have five cans of hairspray that are completely unusable. After many years of exclusively using this product I am unable to continue as the scent is unbearable. As other users have stated, there is a distinct fishy odor that is certainly not what anyone wants their hair to smell like. I can't imagine how this got through product testing. Such an incredible waste of money and irreparable damage to the brand. I will look for another brand. How unfortunate.

What happened to the smell of this hairspray?? I've used it for years and my last 2 or 3 cans have smelled so horrible, almost like something dead is inside it. If others are noticing this, maybe it should be pulled off the market and reformulated. Yuck! I'll try another brand.

I would give a zero if I could, one person said it smelled like fish & others said it was fine. I shook up the can & sprayed it on my hand & it was a fishy smell & then I shook the can up more & sprayed it in a paper towel & really the only way to describe this horrible smell is to say it smells like a dirty maxi pad 🤢🤢🤢 It’s going back to the store in the next few days 🤢🤢🤢

Nexxus, I don't know why you would change a good thing. Maxximum firm has been my go-to hairspray for years for my baby fine hair. But this new product is HORRIBLE! I cannot even get past the terrible egg smell. Whoever agreed to change to this smell, did you even smell it? And it doesn't just go away during the day! It's gross & now I have to go find a new hairspray! Thanks a lot!
