The pad has small grips on one side for the floor and different grips on the other side for the rug. It keeps the rug in place and gives it a nice cushion.

Good rug pad! Nothing super special about it just standard compared to others I’ve received and does the job. It was a little bigger than my 10x14 rug so we cut it easily with a knife. Rug feels soft and cushiony now.
