Since the rug is made from natural jute and cotton, it might have a light earthy smell at first—that’s totally normal and just part of the natural fibers.     Nice quality, no bad smells

Is a little warmer, more golden-colored than expected and has more brown texture when you look closely but I really like it. Has a nice texture and is softer than some jute rugs I’d seen but isn’t really a rug I’d want little ones crawling around on because of the natural fiber texture. But it’s perfect for my living room. No musty or heavy smells.

    Beautiful Rug, BUT the SMELL is awful!!

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to receive this rug as I’ve been updating our dining space. Instantly upon taking the plastic wrap off (which was secure), the smell hits you hard! It’s a damp, musty smell that is pretty unbearable. We’ve tried keeping the windows open, letting baking soda sit on it for 24 hours, even going through the effort of lifting out from under our heavy dining table again to remove the rug and let it sit outside for a bit. I’ve sprayed room spray on it - nothing takes away the smell and we’ve had the rug now for almost 2 weeks. It’s a shame as the rug itself is just what I wanted.

    This rug stretches and moves

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this rug under my dining room table and with a rug pad. In just a few months, this rug has stretched so it’s too big for my space. The rug pad was cut to the size of the rug and now it’s 6” longer than the rug pad. It’s also a big tripping hazard because when you move the chairs, it can easily bunch up the rug. Not to mention that even with a rug pad, this rug moves when you walk on it.

    Great neutral rug
