A: Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend those two methods of cleaning this particular rug. Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth. Apply a carpet stain remover according to that cleaner’s instructions. Professional rug cleaning is also recommended as needed.

I didn't want to spend a lot, seeing as how we don't spend a ton of time in the space and it's mostly teens who hang out down there. I don't want to fret about someone dropping a chicken wing or spilling a Celsius on a rug. I've had this rug for nearly 5 months now and I'm pleased with it. It needed a few days to lay flat, which I helped along by putting books on the corners. I did not notice any off-putting odors when I opened the rug. I don't have any kind of gripper or rug pad underneath it, and have had zero issues with it shifting on our LVP floors. It isn't the thickest, comfiest rug you'll find, but I also wouldn't expect it to be at this price point.

I called the seller to ask if it was normal and I was told the stench could last 3 weeks "then should go away". If that is true then why isn't the product aired out for three weeks before it is sold? Why do I have to lock myself out of my own basement for three weeks instead. Totally unacceptable and disgusting. Never again.

What's more frustrating, a chemical smell from VOCs that lasts over a week with windows open and fan on, your kids getting sick from the smell, or having to roll the whole huge thing back up and return it? Not worth the hassle.

This rug has a HORRIBLE smell, we have aired it out for days outside it’s ruined our carpet in our nursery I don’t know what else to do… I’ve tried using my carpet cleaner, carpet sprays, baking soda, fans… probably going to try to return it.

The quality is not quite what I'd hoped for, but it doesn't take away from the look or design of the rug. The pile is not really shag. The fibers are long but there aren't many of them so the effect is of a thin, cheaper looking rug. It looks fine from a distance and the design is nice.

Was so excited to get this rug, then was very disappointed when it arrived. It’s not as thick as it looks online, and the strands are quite far apart so it feels thin. The worst part was the smell - it stank to the high heavens of chemicals and gave me and my family a huge headache. I even tried to pick it because it was Oeko Tek certified, but that apparently doesn’t cover the VOCs in polypropylene rugs. We aired it outside for a full day and it didn’t help with the smell at all, so we had to end up returning it.
