Description

Hello, shopper. It's Oatly! The original vegan, gluten-free oatmilk that started it all. So what makes this product so amazing, anyway? The taste. And the fact that Oatly is exceptionally good at balancing high nutritional value with low environmental impact. But back to the taste part. Maybe you should. Taste it, that is, and then you can let us know if all the excitement is worth it.

Besides the whole delicious thing, it's also a pretty optimal option for everyday use because it has added calcium and vitamins (A, D, Riboflavin, B12) and includes 2% fat from rapeseed oil and oats. It also has a wonderful, gulp-able texture without stabilizers, gums or thickeners to ruin the vibe. And the beta-glucans (big, scientific word for soluble fiber) in this one are strong and handsome. When should you use it? Whenever you’d use old-school milk from cows—chilled in a glass, on your cereal, in your smoothies, in all your cooking and baking—in exactly the same amounts. Simply a 1:1 swap. So easy.

Q: How does this have "7g added sugars" when there's no sugar in the ingredients list?

submitted by Sleepy - 2 years ago
  • A: FDA guidelines around sugar created during the processing of oats. From Oatly's FAQ: Our oatmilks (aside from the Chocolate) don’t contain any added sweeteners like cane sugar, which is why they’re not listed as an ingredient. The sugar in our oatmilk is produced during our enzymatic production process. Basically, we use natural enzymes to liquefy our oats, which enables us to create a really creamy product that retains a lot of the nutrition from the original oat (like protein, unsaturated fats, fibers, and carbs). As part of this process, the enzymes break the starches in our oats down into smaller components, including simple sugar like maltose. It’s comparable to how the human body uses enzymes to break starches down into sugars during digestion. You can read more about this process here. FDA guidance on sugar labeling now provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be categorized as 'added', which is why these sugars are listed as 'added sugar' on our nutrition labels.

  • A: The sugar is not added seprately. Instead the way that they process the oats breaks it down into an "oat sugar" which is why they have to classify it as an added sugar on the nutritional label.

Q: The ingredients show that this contains Omega 3. Does it have any fishy taste or smell?

submitted by Cat - 4 years ago
  • A: Absolutely no fishy smell or taste whatsoever.

submitted bySocaldancer - 11 months ago
  • A: Hi there! Regarding Omega-3 content in our Full Fat Oatmilk, we use an algal-based vegan DHA. This ingredient is identified on our label as "DHA algal oil". For more information on our full ingredient list, please see our US product page: https://us.oatly.com/products/full-fat-oatmilk-chilled. Thanks!

Q: Is this made in a facility that also handles nuts?

submitted by sk - 6 years ago
  • A: The perishable refrigerated 1/2 gallons are produced in a nut free facility. The shelf stable quart tetra pacs are made in a facility shared with nuts.

submitted byCharros - 6 years ago
  • A: Per their website, their oat milk is produced in facilities that handle coconut, but not tree nuts or peanuts.

submitted byGoldfinch - 6 years ago

Q: Were these oats sourced from a place that uses glysophates?

submitted by Aaron - 7 years ago
  • A: From their website.. No. We carefully source our oats from our trusted supplier, Grain Millers. Grain Millers provides their farmers with a comprehensive support program that fosters a number of sustainable agricultural practices, including avoiding the use of glyphosate on their oats. In fact, Grain Millers has required that their farmers not use glyphosate on their oats since 2015 and conducts random, weekly sampling and testing to validate their farmers' compliance. You can read more about their glyphosate policy here.

Q: Does this oat milk froth well?

submitted by 625sandwichstacker - 5 months ago
  • A: Oatly’s Super Basic Oatmilk is a lighter drink that works well in cereal and smoothies, comparable in function to skim cow’s milk. It can foam. The Barista Edition Oatmilk is a creamier oatmilk specifically designed specifically for foaming and frothing in coffee, if you’d like to take a look at that option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Today I tried Oatly Chocolate Oat Milk for the first time, and I’m honestly impressed 😍. It’s so creamy and smooth, with just the right amount of chocolatey sweetness. I poured it over my morning cereal and even my kids couldn’t resist tasting it! Definitely going to keep a few cartons in the fridge from now on—it’s become my new favorite treat!

Now that I have discovered this, it’s my favorite thing to add to my coffee. Unlike almost any other non-dairy milk out there, it actually mixes in seamlessly with the coffee and adds a great, creamy flavor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm allergic to dairy. For this reason, I often drink the nut milk such as cashew, coconut or almond. This is the first time I tried oat milk and it is a really good. I love how rich and smooth the texture is. I think it is an option for anyone who is facing the same problem as me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review I love these! They are very convenient. I don’t drink oat milk daily. And the size of these are perfect for adding a little bit to my coffee without having to worry about a larger container going bad. The ingredients are good, I like that it’s fortified. The taste is great and as expected—definitely my favorite brand of oat milk. I will continue buying these to keep on hand. They are a bit hard to find in store sometimes though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am not a big fan of oat milk as a whole or any plant based milk for a fact but this chocolate oat milk was so good and did not hurt my stomach like many other milks do. It’s perfect to use with coffee to create a mocha iced coffee. They come packaged in just the amount of serving and perfect to take on the go.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oatly milk is always delicious. Goes great with cereal and especially in coffee. I like the way it froths up easily. This would be great for those on the go. Personally I would buy the big carton, but for kids on the go that like milk this is very portable. The upside is that at the end you can recycle the cartons.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have tried other oat milk brands in the past. So I could feel the texture when I bought the Oatly milk . It’s more creamier and blends well with my protein smoothie. The small packaging makes it travel friendly. I am not a vegan but hardly could feel any difference when used oat milk in my shakes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After a month of using Oatly Original Oatmilk, it’s become a staple in my kitchen. The texture is smooth and creamy—closer to whole milk than most plant-based alternatives—and it works really well in coffee, cereal, and smoothies. It steams beautifully for lattes, which has been a big plus for my morning routine. The flavor is mild with a natural oat sweetness that doesn’t overpower whatever you're adding it to. It’s also shelf-stable before opening, which makes it easy to keep on hand. I appreciate that it’s dairy-free, vegan, and doesn’t have any weird aftertaste like some other non-dairy milks. The only downside is that it’s a bit pricier than other oat milks, but the quality and consistency make it worth it for me. Overall, a great go-to for anyone looking to cut back on dairy without sacrificing taste or texture.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for my daughter who is lactose intolerant. She always enjoyed chocolate milk until it started making her feel uneasy. She thoroughly enjoyed this milk, and could drink it happily knowing she wouldn’t have an upset stomach after. The taste is chocolatey and creamy. Easy to drink and enjoy with ice. The packaging is a great size she can take them to school for lunch. I would recommend and will be buying more !
