Description
The OXO SoftWorks V-Blade Mandoline is a safe, versatile food slicer. Four interchangeable blades combine with a simple height adjuster to make straight slices, crinkle cuts, French fries and julienne strips, all in a variety of thicknesses. The blades store on board and remove easily for quick cleaning by hand. A textured surface keeps food from sticking during slicing while the included food holder protects fingers. The handle, thickness selector and Mandoline feet are all non-slip for a safe, comfortable slicing experience. When you're finished, clean the Mandoline body in the dishwasher, then fold the feet in and lock the selector knob for safe, compact storage.

Q: What are the dimensions? I know how a small belle pepper and tomato can be used for illustrative purchases. For this price point I am hoping it is of a decent width, etc.

Q: How wide is the cutting area? Is it large enough for a pineapple, or is it only 2.2" wide? That seems very small.
Worked poorly due to poor workmanship. Fell apart after a few dozen uses.

I owned a previous version. Of this for 10 years and it was great so I bought it again. However, the current version blades rusted after one washing in the dishwasher. Quality has really gone down, sadly.

Other mandolines change blades with the turn of a knob but with this one, in addition to turning a knob, you have to switch in and out several blades which snap into the body of the tool itself. I found it nearly impossible to put the blades back in their storage slots and cut my fingernail off removing the blade from the slicing position. Too much of a struggle to deal with on a daily basis. I wanted to like it because some of the other mandolines only cut very thin slices, and this one goes up to a quarter inch for both slices and juliennes.

Oxo lives ip to their standards with this mandolin.
This was a great purchase! It is sturdy and easy to use. I bought it to replace the mandoline I had and it is far better. Highly recommend.

I was pleasantly surprised with this gadget having used professional mandolin’s costing hundreds of dollars more. Today I sliced onions, cucumbers and tomatoes for a salad. I was done slicing in 4 minutes. Not sure about the people claiming it tears up food because ripe tomatoes came out perfect!

It's a nice piece of equipment but I think I only regret that it's not black of Stainless Steel board. I just tried it today and it was excellent! I did carrots and daikon, only thing is... the carrots stained the flatbed and now there's an orange stain that cannot be removed.

Easy and Safe To Use

I initially purchased an "off" brand to save a few dollars and I definitely got what I paid for; blades were not very sharp, shifted often and no storage for the additional blades. I am so happy that I returned the "off" brand and purchased the OXO VBlade Mandoline Slicer! I make all of my dog treats at home and one of their favorites is sweet potato crisps which need to be sliced in 1/4 inch chips. This mandoline has that setting and even cut through some pretty thick sweet potatoes with ease. The gripper handle allowed me to slice them completely with zero waste and no worries of ever hurting myself. It folds nice and flat with onboard storage for the additional blades. The blades are easily removeable to switch out yet stay securely in place while using. The adjustment dial is easy to read and turn, it has rubber feet to avoid any slippage and a soft handle to hold it steady. I highly recommend this slicer for EVERY kitchen!

Lots of little sharp, dangerous pieces, that are hard to clean or store. Floppy hinged frame with crevices. It doesn't balance over a bowl, but there is barely room for a plate under it. And even then the slices push forward off the plate. I returned it once it cut my finger while I was trying to be very careful washing it.

Yes it’s expensive, but it does what it’s suppose to do (exceptionally at that). If you are cooking something the required thin, consistent cut, this is your kitchen too! I made a veggie lasagna with zucchini and this thing man handled that zucchini! I was impressed! And for $40 I should be impressed!
