Description

With the Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Bird Feeder you get elegant design and squirrel-resistant function all in one convenient package. The metal cage is adorned with a leafy design that will look at home in any yard. In addition, the metal is finished with a powder coating to enhance the rustic look, while also ensuring rust resistance. To offer defense against squirrels, this feeder boasts multiple great features. First, this feeder’s weight-activated system is calibrated to support the weight of birds but not squirrels. When squirrels try to gain access to the perches, the cage is pulled down, causing the decorative leaves to cover the ports. In addition, the metal cage prevents squirrel chewing and damage. With less competition from squirrels, birds won’t be able to resist the Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Feeder! It features six feeding ports evenly spaced around the reservoir so multiple birds can dine at the same time and you can enjoy a better view. In addition, this feeder has built-in drain holes to prevent water from pooling in the reservoir, so there’s less seed waste. Use the built-in hanging wire to place this attractive feeder anywhere around your yard or patio.

To fill, place the feeder on a sturdy surface, push down the outer metal housing, grip the top square cap and lift it from the feeder then rotate it out of the way, gently release the outer metal housing, fill the feeder with seed, and replace the top square cap.

Q: Can blue jays and robins use this feeder?

submitted by Linda s - 1 month ago
  • A: Yes, blue jays can use the Perky-Pet® Squirrel Be Gone Bird Feeder, as the weight-activated perch is designed to close under heavier animals like squirrels while still allowing larger songbirds to feed. Robins typically prefer feeding from the ground and do not commonly use seed feeders, so they may be less likely to visit this feeder.

Not a smart buy for me.

At first I really liked this feeder as it was easy to load with seed and had many feeding stations (holes). I bring my multiple feeders inside at night as to not feed the nocturnal creatures. Fast forward a month or so and the top shield is bent. It’s lightweight and bent by the weight of a squirrel! No longer sits flat and now jiggles when birds land and scares them off. Secondly, I now see that the feed is compacted most likely due to rain yesterday. Bad design. Now the bottom of the feeder is not level. Would not recommend this feeder for any bird lover who has a busy feeding area as neither the design nor the durability warrants the buy.

Not Squirrel Resistant!

The squirrels took it down in a matter of days. Definitely not squirrel resistant. Don't buy this thinking it is.
1 reply from Woodstream Team team - 15 days ago
We're sorry to hear about your experience. The Squirrel-Be-Gone® feeder is designed to help deter squirrels by closing access to the seed when weight is applied to the perch. For best results, the feeder should be hung at least 4 feet off the ground and 8–10 feet away from trees, fences, railings, or other jumping points. If a squirrel is able to reach the feeder from above or knock it down, the squirrel-resistant mechanism may not be able to function as intended. We appreciate your feedback and will share it with our team.

Bird's don't use it

I don't know why, but the birds can not get the food out of this feeder. All my other feeders are empty and this is full. It has been up two months and is completely full. I liked the price so I am sad to return it.
