Works well but remote battery dies fast
Worked well for about a year but then stopped until I changed the battery on the remote and then it worked fine again. For being such a low usage item I feel like one year was strange for the battery to run out. Have used it for patio lights and Christmas lights without any issues. The range of the remote is good. Reaches up to 20ft without issue and also works fine in very low temps outdoors and in garage.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was an easy fix for remembering to turn on the Christmas lights. The light would go on at dusk without any issues. If for some reason they wouldn't go on at dusk or I wanted to torn them on sooner I would just use the remote that came with it. I wouldn't' even have to go outside I would just stand at the window and press on from the remote and they would turn on. This is convenient and handy to have. I do wish it the cord was longer.

Same frequency as other remotes??
While the remote does turn the lit decorations outside on and off, it also turns off the tree inside the house that is on a completely separate plug with its own remote. Super annoying!

Great indoors or out!

The dual outlet handles all our lights, and we really enjoy being able to turn them on or off with just the remote.

This has been exacltly what we needed. Remote works perfectly for light control and trust the Phillips name for quality. Nice to have the dual plugs as well.

Works nicely, but operation is a bit odd.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This photocell controlled outlet has an interesting remote control switch added to the mix. I find the operation to be a bit confusing, because turning this switch on with the remote only keeps it on for a while. Say it's light outside, and you want to turn the outlets on. You can press the "on" button on the remote, and the outlets turn on. They will stay on for the remainder of the time that it's light, and one cycle of darkness - and then turn off. So until the photocell detects darkness, and then light again (presumably the next morning) the outlets will remain on. Then it reverts to a straight dusk to dawn sensor. Now. let's say it's dark, and you want to turn the outlets off. Press the "off" button on the remote, and the outlets turn off. They will stay off for the remainder of the night, all of the next day, and then will turn on again the next time it gets dark. So the remote is just a temporary override of the photocell, until it goes through the next light or dark cycle. If all of this sounds confusing, it kind of is. If you wanted, you could defeat the dusk-to-dawn function by putting some tape over the photocell. Then this becomes a simple remote controlled outlet. None of this is explained in the instructions, and seeing how wordy this review got, I can understand why they'd have trouble explaining it. In spite of it's quirky operation, I think this switch seems well built, and should work well once the operator figures out how to use it.
