Recipe change?
I have been buying this for a while now. I use it in my meatball dishes. I marinate them and then dip them in breadcrumbs. I bought these on 3/17/26. They were spicy hot. I did not want spicy, it burnt my tongue. I will not buy this product again.

Best frozen meatballs. Period.
I love these! I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I was looking for a frozen meatball that was healthier then the ones made with pork or beef and decided to give these a try. I'm so glad I did! I like these infinitely better than cooked perfect brand meatballs. If someone fed these to me and didn't tell me they were plant-based, I would not have a clue. These are my new go-to for spaghetti and meatballs.

Changed recipe and will not buy again!
I used to love these, but now they taste like beyond meat products. I don't eat meat because I don't like the taste or texture of meat.

Staple in our kitchen
Gardein Meatballs are a staple in our vegan way of life! Especially with teenagers in the house! They cook fast, taste great with marinara, even non vegan friend enjoy them. They cook quickly, have a surprisingly "meaty " texture and taste great. They are filling and convenient for busy for busy evenings, and make a vegan dinner feel normal and comforting for our family. These have definitely become a freezer staple in our home. If you have teens and want an easy vegan meal they will actually eat, this is it!

Original Version is Superior
This version is great. However I have been unable to find these originals. My understanding is they are replacing it with the “Ultimate,” a high fat and high sodi version to try to appeal to meat eaters. Similar to Impossible. This tact will fail since meat eaters are going to buy meat meatballs, not the new version. Please bring the original version back. I used to buy these 2 and 3 packs at a time.

These Taste Like Meatballs Should
These are excellent, not salty like the new so-called "Ultimate" version, and taste like meatballs should. The only drawback is that some stores have stopped selling these and are selling Gardein's new "ultimate meatballs", which smell horrible and taste gross like extremely salty mushballs. A huge majority of us, vegan or not, still love this version and need Gardein to continue to sell it and sell it everywhere. Otherwise, Gardein, you will lose devoted customers. Don't tamper with the original!

These are worth a try for everyone, not just vegetarians. My only critique is that they could use some more Italian spices, but otherwise, they’re delicious! They have a firmer texture, and hearty taste and even my omnivore parents were saying we were going to repeat purchase. I bought these on a whim and I’m eager to see what else they have.

Black tar in center - but fine before that
Overall I thought the meatballs were a fine substitute, a little too much fennel for my liking. The two star rating comes from biting into one of the balls and having a black tar like substance come out of it. It was so unexpected and different from others that I completely lost my appetite and threw out the rest. I will never purchase these again because of that.

Texture makes this a great substitute for meat
I’ve been using these for years, ever since Nate’s went out of business. Texture is perfect. My only complaint ever is the sodium content, but that’s a caveat for any processed food. I actually made pasta tonight and added these to my sauce. 🍝

One ball filled with thick black substance
I usually like these balls but they are quite large so I decided to cut them in half as they were cooking. Glad I did as a thick glossy tar like substance came out of one. I can’t reach them on any of the contact numbers or form on the website (required a US address for some reason) so I guess I’m not eating meatballs tonight. Looks like several folks in the reviews below have had the same problem lately. QC must have taken a nosedive.

These are delicious for vegan meatballs. Nice flavor, size, and nutrition with a good amount of protien. I suggested cooking them in your pasta sauce so they are not too dry.
