This use to be my favorite exfoliator for years. But I recently bought it and realized they changed the formula. Scent smells different, texture is different and it’s less exfoliation than the older formula. It use to feel luxurious now it just feels/smells cheap. Disappointed.

Not exfoliaring anymore
Formula changed. Such a bummer. Use to be more of a real scrub. There’s a lot less sugar in it. It’s really more to hydrate the skin than to exfoliate. Won’t be purchasing again unfortunately.

Formula Change and Bait-and-Switch Issue with Same-Day Delivery
I am very frustrated with this product and how it is currently listed on Target’s website. The product image and description show the original SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Hand and Body Scrub, but I have now placed two separate same-day delivery orders and received the newer reformulated version both times. This feels like a bait and switch. If the original formula has been replaced, the listing should be updated to reflect that. Advertising the old product while delivering a completely different formula is misleading. The ingredient changes are significant. The original scrub was oil- and butter-based and did not contain water or cleansing surfactants. The new formula adds water and surfactants such as cocamidopropyl betaine, which completely changes how the product performs. Instead of a rich, moisturizing exfoliation, the new version feels gunky, leaves a white residue on my skin in the shower, and does not exfoliate effectively. Most disappointing is the loss of hydration. The original formula left my skin soft and moisturized long after showering. With the new formula, my skin does not feel hydrated at all. Unfortunately, this decline reflects a larger pattern seen after the brand was sold by its original founders, where products originally created for melanated skin and hair are reformulated as they go mainstream, despite the original formulas being the ones that actually worked.

I’ve used this scrub for years and now the formula has changed. It’s less effective at exfoliating and watered down, it doesn’t smell as nice, and it’s not nearly as moisturizing as the old formula. This wasn’t broken so why fix it?????

Bad reformulation
This product was reformulated and that was not indicated on the new packaging. The new reformation is really ineffective. The texture is watered down and for some reason , they added color to the scrub. I used to trust this brand completely, but this reformulated scrub really feels like they are trying to water down the formula so they can save money. I will not buy this particular product from them again.

There is virtually no "scrub" in this crap that seems to have replaced the coconut & hibiscus illuminating hand & body scrub that was great and actually had the scrub in it! I bought two of these new ones. Once I tried them, I immediately returned them both to the store for a refund. I will no longer be buying any of your products. It is extremely disappointing for a company to replace a great product for a crap alternative.

Why fix it if it’s not broken?
I LOVE the original formula of this scrub: the right texture, effective exfoliation, and it left my skin feeling clean, refreshed, and smelling good. Unfortunately, this new version has completely missed the mark. There’s barely any “scrub” to it; it’s more of an oily gel that doesn’t do much exfoliating at all. I found myself using way more product than before just to feel like I was getting any kind of scrub effect, which makes it feel wasteful. I wish they'd bring it back the original formula. Sadly, I’ll be looking for a new scrub, because this updated version just isn’t it.

Along with all of the other comments, the new formula does not do the job. There is no scrub to it. I swore by the original and thought it was just new packaging. I have started purchasing another product which isn't as good as your original but your new formula doesn't work. PLEASE bring back "SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Hand and Body Scrub"

Bring back the old formula
I was a loyal user of this scrub for YEARS. I frequently gifted it to friends, it was so good. Unfortunately the new product is completely different. Honestly, its terrible compared to the old formula. Not worth the price, it barely exfoliates, and feels like sticking your hand into a pot of glue. It also doesn't moisturizer as well. It still smells nice though, so I guess that's a plus.

The old formula was my absolute holy grail and the only exfoliater on the market that helped with ingrown hairs. The new formula doesn’t do anything for me and just foams up. Super disappointed in the formula change.
