Description

Original Ezekiel 4:9 Flourless Sprouted Grain Bread. Food for Life uses only the best natural and organic ingredients. Food For Life Baking Co.® makers of the incredibly delicious and nutritious Ezekiel 4:9® Sprouted Grain Bread, is committed to the health of its customers since its inception over 50 years ago.

Among the many natural and organic sprouted grain breads are our widely popular Ezekiel 4:9® and Genesis 1:29® breads, English Muffins, Tortillas, Buns, Cereal, Pitas and Pasta.

Sprouting maximizes digestibility and nutrition while lowering the glycemic index in our flourless bakery products.

Beyond the commitment to superior nutrition, there’s also a commitment to a balanced and protected pH. Food For Life® recognizes that a “Balanced pH” is absolutely essential for optimum health.

Food For Life® meticulously chooses it’s ingredients, and refuses to use acidifying agents such as: Cultured Wheat Starch, Vinegar, Calcium Propionate and Ascorbic Acid – all preservatives

An amazing benefit of sprouting, grains actually become more alkaline as water and oxygen support the growth of the new plant and naturally balances the pH. While a balanced pH is great for health reasons, helping protect against disease and illness, a higher pH does tend to shorten shelf life. This is why we primarily sell Food For Life® breads frozen.

Q: Need this bread be kept in the freezer?

submitted by rec - 1 year ago
  • A: Target sells it frozen so it seems you can keep it in the freezer.

submitted byAZLOIS - 1 year ago

Q: How much gluten does this bread have?

submitted by Andy - 1 year ago
  • A: Ezekiel bread contains gluten because it's made from grains like wheat, barley, and spelt that all contain gluten. Although sprouting grains can reduce gluten content by up to 47%, it doesn't completely eliminate it. People with celiac disease or a gluten allergy should avoid sprouted grains that contain gluten. Ezekiel bread is made by sprouting grains and legumes, mashing them, and mixing them into dough. It's a good source of niacin, selenium, and manganese, and may have health benefits like improved digestion and nutrient absorption. However, it's also high in carbohydrates and more expensive than regular bread. If you're looking for a gluten-free bread, the manufacturer of Ezekiel bread offers several gluten-free options, including Sprouted for Life breads. These breads are made from sprouted grains like quinoa, millet, and chia, but they don't contain legumes.

Q: Does this bread have salt

submitted by MB - 11 days ago

Q: Does this bread actually contain sesame? Nothing in the listing or photos says it does so I bought it. The package I received doesn’t have sesame as an ingredient but has an additional section of allergens in the bread and sesame is listed there.

    Ezekiel sprouted bread

I've had to change my diet and finding gluten free bread has been a challenge. I think this will work. A different brand I bought at Aldi's was horrible. It dissolved as soon as you put it in your mouth.

The bread is usu good, Target just gave me a moldy one

We love this bread. It is preservative free so we do keep it in the fridge or freezer depending on how quickly we anticipate eating it. However, after a Target pick up order we opened same day and discovered a loaf full of mold which means it’s been sitting on their shelves for a while. There was also no expiration date. Gross! Crossing Target off the list of places I will buy this from.

Where has this been my whole life??

I grew up on wheat bread and occasionally the ones with seeds on the crust. Texture nightmare on that last one. But this bread?? Awesome. You need to let it thaw in your fridge, but it’s really good. It’s fully of protein, fiber, etc. so it’s good for you! Much better than the garbage they sell for cheaper. I don’t use mayonnaise and it’s not too dry either.

    Best bread all around

There is a reason why all Ezekiel breads are in the freezer section and the others are not.ezekiel is as real and not processed and healthy while the others are full of junk ingredients. They may cost a little more but your body and digestion will thank you for eating this great bread. Glad target carries this item.

Spikes blood sugar; contains soy and wheat gluten

This bread used to be dense with grains, decades ago. Now, wheat tops the ingredients list, followed by filtered water, and that is accurate to the taste. It is extremely light, and it spikes my blood sugar, despite being touted as "low glycemic". It also contains soy and wheat gluten. I will stick to organic steel cut oats with Ceylon cinnamon, thanks.

    Healthiest bread

This is my go-to bread because I’m conscious about my health. The taste isn’t the best, but I’ve come to really enjoy it. My wife doesn’t like it at all. We keep it frozen. It’s also small so it doesn’t make great sandwiches. Very expensive though.

A must have in my freezer

Does it taste “healthy”? Yes, in that it’s not fluffy and won’t provide an explosion of floury goodness into your mouth, but that’s why you eat it with something. It’s got a nice subtle texture that you get used to. I can’t eat this alone, but if I spread whipped cream cheese topped with smoked salmon or mashed avocado, this bread serves as a great vessel and gets the job done. I eat a slice everyday for breakfast. I feel fuller eating less, and it’s 100% guilt-free. You are what you eat. My body thanks me for the 3g of fiber and 5g of protein per slice. A solid win.

    The taste has no personality

2 stars only because it doesn’t crumble and fall apart. But there is absolutely no savory flavor. Probably better off having organic sourdough bread if you’re wanting a healthier option.

    Taste like cardboard

No expiration date on it and started molding after a few days. I only had 1 slice and it was like eating cardboard. Threw the rest of it away since it was moldy. Waste of money. Not worth the money at all.

    Blah, gross

I was so excited to try this bread…But it is truly awful! It tastes like bland toasted cardboard even with butter on it. Very disappointed. I do not doubt it’s healthfulness, and if you can choke it down more power to you!

    Excellent for avocado toast

Love the texture and flavor of this healthy bread. I use this bread mostly for making avocado toast. It's delicious. It does fall apart a bit when untoasted and used to make a sandwich but it doesn't bother me. Target's price is a bit high but fine if you're in a pinch.
