Description

The Qdos Adhesive Fridge/Freezer Lock comes in both white and chrome to complement your kitchen décor, while keeping curious toddlers out of harm’s way from glass containers, raw meat and other dangers that lurk in a refrigerator or freezer. The Qdos Adhesive Fridge/Freezer Lock fits double door refrigerators, with or without drawers, and is adjustable in depth to accommodate doors and drawers up to a thickness of 5.5”. Unlike other locks that require two hands to open, our Fridge/Freezer Lock is easy to operate with one hand, and it’s easy to remove without damaging the surface when you no longer need it.

Q: Could an 8-year-old figure out how to dismantle this? Or is it designed more for safety rather than unauthorized snacking?

  • A: We recommend installing the Fridge/Freezer lock as high up on the fridge as possible if you have a side by side fridge/freezer combination. If you have fridge on the top and freezer on the bottom, an 8-year old may be able to figure out how to remove the mushroom cap and thus get in the fridge or freezer. By installing the Qdos Fridge/Freezer Lock at the highest part that the adults can still safely remove, it keeps it out of sight for the kids trying to get in.

Q: Can this lock be placed on wooden kitchen cabinets that open as side by side refrigerator doors

  • A: The Qdos Fridge/Freezer lock will be too large to use on standard wooden kitchen cabinets. We would recommend using the Qdos Adhesive Double Door Lock for that instance as they are specifically designed for side by side kitchen cabinets.

Q: Does this lock automatically relock when the refrigerator door is closed?

  • A: The Qdos Fridge/Freezer lock does not automatically relock once the fridge is open/closed. It has a detachable mushroom cap that is removed manually when getting into the fridge/freezer and then will need to be replaced to lock the fridge/freezer. Should have read the reviews first ;( missing the pice that locks it , once the strip was removed and waited over 24 hrs my 2 yr old still opened the fridge like nothing and the whole thing popped off. Don’t recommend

Hard to use

After reading all the positive reviews I figure this would be the perfect lock to keep my small children out of the refrigerator.. boy was I wrong! This lock is flimsy and hard to use even for an adult!! It takes more time for me to try and get it off to open the door half the time I won’t even use it. It’s not an easy open and takes more time to try to remove it you may as well just leave it off the refrigerator. For the price you pay I’d expect better quality. When the item is on it works as it should but taking it off is a pain.

WARNING!

WARNING! This worked brilliantly (except the springs were a bit stiff to unlock). HOWEVER, after a few weeks I believe it nearly killed my fridge. The guy fixing it had to replace the compressor and was 100% confident it was this (the part that attaches to the fridge) that did it. It prevented a clean seal *just* enough (pinprick of light at each end) that the compressor had to work overtime and couldn't survive.

I'm glad this product works and installation was a breeze. There is a piece that you have to cut so don't be afraid if didn't cut it short enough, you can adjust it. My toddler can't get into the fridge & freezer now, so I am happy.
