Does The Trick!
Quality build. Did exactly what I wanted it to. So here's my application. I wanted to record the audio from a SACD layer of a disc because it had some different audio content than the CD layer. My computer and SACD player have different connections. SACD > Digital to Analog Audio Converter (using coax cable) > Stereo RCA cables to 3.5mm jack adapter > computer line in. I was able to capture the audio to my computer smoothly.

Does not work for me
The converter does not work for me. I have tested the digital optical audio cable and the analog cable and am using a known good input on my receiver. I just get a buzzing noise through the receiver.

It does what it?s supposed to do, but if you don?t have a remote to your studio monitors then you can?t adjust the volume which is annoying. If anything you should get a dac or premamp with a remote if your speakers don?t have one.

I received the converter and coaxial cables (ordered separately/cables do NOT come with the converter). The quality of the product is instantly visually obvious. Instruction were extremely clear. I connected the unit and instantly had fantastic, clean crisp, audio from the speakers I had connected to my receiver. I was very excited because I had been trying, for a long time, to get audio through my receiver but could not because the receiver only had analog inputs. This converter made it happen! I highly recommend this converter and Monoprice, they are an outstanding company.

I do currently use this, but I forget for which unit. Might be the AppleTV or the other, older AppleTV. Either way, it provided a thin sound on the Google Audio Chromecast optical output, but it works great for dialogue and podcasts so it is there on the older dedicated AppleTV where I use it.

Great unless video sleeps
Works as expected except when a computer turns off the screen, the audio becomes a hiss. I assume this noise is coming from the power supply. The device it silent when the video signal is present and there's no audio, so it should be able to be silent when there's no video. It's quiet enough that I've gotten accustomed to it and I'm ignoring it but others may not be happy.

Very pleased with converter. I would have submitted the review earlier, but , through no fault of Monoprice I did not receive the item because of a 3 week delay in transfer of he item from UPS to USPS for whatever reason with no explanation. USPS delivered the device to me on the day it was received from UPS.

It saved the day. Now I am able to listen to the sound from my new 65” Samsung TV through my DVD player sound system and it works very good and sounds better than the TV itself.
