Give it about 20 hours of playing time and it really warms up for a smooth, buttery sound that still punches through the mix. It has a Low input, which attenuates the signal by about half and makes it easier to overdrive, and a high input, which gives full power with more headroom and volume. The cabinet has an open back and features a leather handle, cloth speaker grill, and a cream-colored, textured, synthetic leather exterior with chrome corner guards.

I finally opened the box. This was a Christmas present to myself. I wanted a small compact amp that has a nice tube sound. The Amp exceeded my expectations. I originally wanted to get the higher wattage amp but because I am only going to use it for home use, I felt that the 30watt amp would be too much power. I wanted to drive it to get a nice breakup tone. The 5watt was more than enough for my needs. Having the attenuation button for 1 watt operation is a nice feature too. Thumbs up Monoprice. I love this amp!

This thing can be played in 1watt mode and still sound good without annoying the neighbors. It is sounding better and better the more it's played and broke in. I upgraded the a7 tube and it sounds better. Tried a EL34 but it got to hot so I shut it down and put the original 6V6GT back in and it sounds good I'm going to upgrade to a better tube in the future but the reality is it sounds fine as it is. This has been my daily practice amp for nearly 3 years now. Can't get enough of how much it puts out for such a small amp. The cleans are clear and punch and it breaks up well in the 5w mode with the volume cranked. Would buy again.

I have several much more expensive amps and this little thing is a joy. running a good guitar with nice pickups, the kind that sounds good with a cable and an amp, will bring some great tones out of this. it's so hard to get to 'breakup' with other amps... most people probably think they have breakup with a screamer in front of their much more powerful amp but it's probably just the screamer... with this you can really dial in some tones and play with breakup for a very reasonable cost. if you've read this far just buy it

I can play through it in my bedroom without blowing everybody out of the house. It has been difficult getting low volume levels with my Carvin 50W tube amp. Nice that it has a speaker out jack. The 8" speaker sounds nice, but the amp sounds amazing through the 12" Carvin speaker. Upon first use, the amp was making a crackling static-like noise. It just turned out to just be a poor connection between the 12AX7 and its socket; I pulled the tube out, reinserted it, and that fixed the problem. A quality amp for the price.

Its a nice little home practice amp. I was surprised hiw good it sounded in person. If i didnt get this on sale, i probably wouldnt have bought it or kept it. I like that it has a power attenuator on it to switch from 1w to 5w. I am going to play around with other speakers to see if it can improve it at all but so far this speaker is fine.

Mine took a week to get to me in Florida, which seems like forever when you're excited about a piece of gear. If I would have read my order confirmation, I would have known it was going to take a few days extra with a shipping delay. I sent an inquiry to see when it was going to ship, and had a shipping confirmation two days later. Perfectly acceptable. The amp was well packaged, communication was good, and shipping was fine. BTW, the 5 watt amp is amazing at twice the price. Well worth the wait. Thanks Monoprice!!

Showed up quick. Great amp for sub $300. Great tones at low volumes with the 1w switch. Well built. Leather handle is Way more comfortable than the Brand Name BlusJr. Bought the 15w and the 5w versions. Together they cost less then a used amp that was previously mentioned. Was stressing the purchase of both amps, until about 3 minutes after the tubes warmed up. Now I couldn't be happier with them both.
