Good general cooking content but bad paper and binder
This is the facsimile 3 ring binder version. I wasn’t sure what that meant when I ordered but now I know so I’ll translate: this is a reproduction/mock vintage cookbook. It uses a smaller than normal size sheet of paper bound in a 3 ring binder with cardboard dividers for each section. It also has the plastic pieces to keep the pages from getting pinched at the front or back. I like those aspects of it and it has good content BUT the binder and paper used are poor quality! So I’m giving it 2-3 stars. On first opening, a couple pages already had torn binding holes and it didn’t seem to be packed poorly! The corner of the binder itself was also dented because it’s very thin, low quality cardboard. Again, the outside box and other stuff in the shipment weren’t damaged. Just this book. So I’m guessing it’s just fragile. The content itself is decent general cooking knowledge and looks to be a reproduction of an old 1960s cookbook with mock faded color photos and old timey information. It skips on the newer cookbook “fluff” and anecdotes and has useful information easy to find. Eg there are charts at the start of each section with safe cooking temperatures and times or ratios. I’ll probably try the other version that’s a hardcover because it has the info I want but this three ring bound version just won’t hold up. After a few reading sessions, the pages would all have torn holes. (The paper gets snagged on the rings too) Overall it seems like a good general purpose cookbook but it has no fancy recipes and the publishing, binding, paper, etc are poor quality. I’d compare the paper to what you’d find in a cheap magazine and with holes punched in it, you can imagine how fast they’d get torn! This would require delicate handling and that won’t happen in my kitchen. So im returning it
