Q: where does the clear plastic washer go to straighten the base? Not explained in the instructions.

A: Hello, I reviewed the assembly instructions and you are correct, there is nothing depicting a clear plastic washer and how it is to be assembled with the lamp. This washer may just be extra packing material to keep a specific piece of the lamp from being damaged during transit however in order to best assist you, please contact us at 1-866-436-3393.
