The Ember Mug is highly praised for its ability to keep beverages hot for extended periods, making it a favorite among slow drinkers. However, the charging coaster has been a consistent point of frustration due to its fragile pins, which often fail and require frequent replacements. Despite this, many guests appreciate having multiple coasters for convenience in different locations.

Charger is CRAP - Not actually a coaster

The pin design on this charger is the worst possible one. They always break, even when I'm extremely careful to avoid moisture on it. If it can't handle moisture, it shouldn't be called a coaster, since you can't use it while it's full. I have to leave the cup off of the charger while I'm using it, then charge in between uses. It would be way more useful if I could leave the cup on the coaster 24/7 without worrying about moisture. The pins always break and I don't know why they can't figure out a new sustainable design unless they see it as a way to keep getting mroe revenue from people having to replace their coasters all the time.
Charging Coaster Issue Unresolved

I, too, love my Ember. And, however, am experiencing the prong problem that so many others are experiencing with the charging coaster. Except that the vinegar fix has not worked for me. Unless someone can offer an alternate fix, I will be forced to buy a new one once the black is back in stock. Any help is appreciated.

I love my Ember mug but they have got to fix the issue with the coasters. As many others have mentioned, over time one or both pins will get stuck in the recessed position and lose contact with the mug's charging ring. I'm going to try Steve's vinegar fix to see if that works as I've already bought replacement coasters twice.

One of my prongs won’t make contact with the not. Therefore it doesn’t charge.
Vinegar Hack Works!

Big thanks to Steve who wrote the "How to fix those coaster contact pins" article 3 mo ago! I had a recessed pin on my mug and tried his vinegar method (simply place a drop of vinegar on the recessed pin and let it sit for half an hour). It worked like a charm! And even better, after leaving the pin to soak in the vinegar, I didn't even need to pull the recessed pin into place. It just popped up on its own. My Ember Mug is back to charging as I write this. I highly recommend this hack if one or both pins have recessed. And if there's one thing I NEVER want to go without, it's my Ember. It is the one thing I can count on during my long workday to soothe my soul. Thanks to Ember for creating an excellent product and Steve for helping me stay soothed!
Pins are a deal-breaker; I won’t rebuy.

Charging Coaster Problem/Solution?

My ember charging coaster lasted 2+ years before it stopped charging. No matter what I tried, it just stopped charging. I learned the problem was probably mineral buildup from water, I did the following, and it worked: I used tweezers to pull up on the charging pins. Only one would pull up, indicating major mineral buildup had it glued down. I then sprinkled 1/4 tsp. of baking soda into the base, then poured enough white vinegar on it to cover the inside of the base. I let it sit for about 10 minutes. After pouring off the vinegar solution, I wiped out the coaster with rubbing alcohol, then with a damp cloth. TA-DA! It worked.

The second coaster has broken. I love the mug, but the repeated coaster failures make it hard to recommend this product. After barely a year of use, the pin failed to bounce back for charging. I use this mug five days a week for work, but the coaster isn’t waterproof or durable. This is my second failed coaster, and now I have to buy another one just to keep using my mug.

Chargers don't hold up. I've had three go bad, and they're stupid expensive. Hopefully my tumbler hasn't gone bad, too - to be determined...

I received my mug for a Christmas present and love it. I bought the sliding lid and an extra charging coaster. I wish there was a charger that I could plug into a USB outlet rather than electrical outlets. I have tons of USB options at work. Also, I would love it if the temperature maximum was 150 degrees. I understand if the maximum was determined for safety reasons. However, I like my beverages at 150-155 degrees.

I have had to purchase two replacement charging coasters for my Ember Mug. I love it, but the pins on the charging base always fail over time. Ember needs to offer an annual subscription for new Charging Coasters, because you'll need a new one each year, from my experience.
