Adventure and Danger
I’m loving this series by Misty Beller. A hidden community inside of a mountain has held me spellbound from the start of the first novel. Charlotte was brave and had lots of guts. Starting out on her own along a dangerous trek in the dead of winter showed her determination. She was trying to find someone to repair a damaged chalice before her father found out. It was more challenging than she imagined it would be and if not for Damien finding her and changing his plans to help her, she would have perished. What an adventure full of freezing days and nights, dangerous traveling, injuries and bravery. I loved the descriptions that had my imagination working overtime and me shivering to the point I had to grab my coat! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.

Beautiful Ending
The author does an amazing job of taking readers back in time to 1817. There we can picture snow covering the mountains as a harsh winter has come. I loved Charlotte and desire to help her father around the village. While cleaning one day she damages a precious item that is treasured by her and the village. She was so afraid to confess to her papa that she runs away determined to find someone to repair it. I don’t think she was thinking clearly when she finds herself in weather that was unbearable to endure. She will find a lesson waiting for her in the story which we all can use sometime. Charlotte learns to trust her father and lean on others when she is in trouble. We can’t do everything by ourselves and Charlotte finds out God has sent someone to help her. Damien was my favorite character because he was humble, strong and searching for happiness. After losing his sister he seems to be lost and not sure what to do next. When he and Charlotte meet it is under circumstances that force them to join up in order to survive the dangers in the wild. It did take a bit of time for both of them to warm up to each other. I liked how Damien became protective of Charlotte and treated her respectfully. The author allows these two characters to slowly get to know each other and I liked the pace of their relationship. As they start to trust each other they face danger on their journey. The author described the weather so well, I grabbed a blanket as I read the book. I loved how Damien came to understand that God loved Him. We sometimes think we disappoint others or God, but we need to remember that God is pleased with us. He loves us and delights in us. I loved the illustration that shows when we feel discouraged , God is there to lift us up. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Adventurous
Misty Beller's Brides of Laurent is a delightful series. While historical, it reads with a bit of a fantasy, fairy-tale sort of feel. In my opinion the series will be enjoyed to the fullest by being read in order. A Daughter's Courage, the third book in the series, focuses on Charlotte, the middle child of the village of Laurent's chief. It follows her on her quest to reach Fort Versailles in search of an artisan talented enough to restore an heirloom dear to the hearts of all the villagers, traveling in the Canadian Rockies as winter sets in. This is a story of perseverance, discovery, love, and family, above all its a story of God's love for His children. I highly recommend this book and series. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of A Daughter's Courage from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Beautifully done
This is a great adventure reading experience. I really enjoy this author's books and the characters that she develops. As Charlotte heads to a fort two days away, she runs into lots of unexpected trials. As well as a man she doesn't know whether to trust or not. Yet, she has little choice as a serious snowstorm causes them to find shelter. It's a very enthralling book that will keep you reading till the end. The characters are such that you really enjoy reading about them. This entire series has been one that I feel so lucky to have read. I love the hidden village in the caves and the people that find refuge there. I love how Charlotte and Damien are not perfect, but good people who have their individual struggles. I really liked the book and look forward to the author's future works. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts are my own.

Creative and Captivating
This author captures my attention from beginning to end with her creative writing style, setting, and characters. Such a well rounded combination of everything that makes for a great read. I love visiting Laurent again as most of these characters are like old friends and I was so happy Charlotte has her own story. Damien is the perfect hero to match her and watching the dance they create is like poetry in motion. Lots of adventure and exciting situations to keep you engrossed. I absolutely love the family connections and sense of community that supports and cares for each other. Then you have the beautiful way faith is woven within that makes the story have that powerful punch. I highly recommend this imaginative book and series. I’m just sad to see it end. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

They both needed grace.
A damaged chalice brought so much more than ever expected. God’s hand had woven their paths seamlessly, beginning with their ancestors and all the way to this present day. Were they ready to accept all that He had to offer? The author has given us another look at the lovely village of Laurent from it’s place in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. The amazing detail had me shivering, wanting to cry out a warning and almost holding my breath. As she unwisely leaves the shelter of her village in hopes of finding someone to repair the chalice accidentally damaged, Charlotte is unprepared for what she experiences. A blizzard, thin ice, wolves and even a bear were just some of the dangers met in her unwise attempt. With the help of a lone stranger, will she find her way safely home? This early copy was received through Baker Publishing Group, Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
