Must read duology.
I LOVE Rebecca's writing. I originally read this on my kindle, but I loved the duology so much that I had to get the physical copies. Such a beautifully written book.

Divine Rivals
This was such a sweet story! Did not want to put it down. Enemies to lovers in the sense of a workplace competition and mysterious connection that each knows details about that the other doesn’t, loved this.

Favorite book of the year
Divine Rivals is my favorite book I've read this year! I recently purchased this book, along with Ruthless Vows, at a great discount at Target to gift to my book-loving friend. I highly recommend to anyone who loves reading historical fantasy and romance.

Best read of the year (so far) hands down!!!
There aren’t enough words to describe how much I LOVEDDDD this book omg. It was sooooo good. This was my first ever fantasy book and I was nervous at first because I wasn’t sure how much I’d enjoy this genre but omg this book exceeded my expectations tremendously. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up. I’ve already ordered the sequel to this and can’t wait to begin reading it lol.

Better than the first book
More going on than in the first book of this duology, but still just kind of dragged through most of the story and then the end happened so quickly in comparison. I would only recommend this book to historical romance or YA readers. Adult and high fantasy readers will be super bored.

Fantasy meets historical fiction!
First of author's books that I've read, and I was sucked in immediately! You absolutely fall in love with the story (I read it in one sitting). This was my underdog read of 2023; it was incredibly unexpected & easily in my top 3 reads. It had no right being this good!

Very cute story
With all of the hype, I had to read this one. And while it’s a good story, I would consider it as just good. It’s very cute. More romance heavy and very little fantasy. The fantasy aspects are so far in the distance for the majority of the book and that’s not what I expected. I will definitely read the next one though.

Divine!
I loved this one! The writing, the magic, the setting, and the characters - all done beautifully. I can’t stop thinking about that ending! Read this if your intrigued by enchanted letters, enemies to lovers, battling gods, and investigative journalism.

Magical Romance + Gods at war = a fantastic story!
The hype around this one is well deserved! Rebecca Ross has a beautiful way of writing that really sinks you in to the story and makes it almost impossible to put it down. Divine Rivals is pumped full of plot with a very special magic connecting rivals-to-lovers Iris and Kitt in the midst of a growing war between two gods. Iris is a fantastic protagonist. She is strong willed, smart/clever and despite her hardships and loneliness in life she is always looking out for others. Iris is the type of person you would be lucky to have as a trusted friend when crap hits the fan because you could always count on her in every way. She is independent but doesnt fall in to any of the usual clichés that make a YA protagonist too much for me. I really loved her and was rooting for her every step of the way! Kitt and Iris have a perfect rivals-to-lovers setup. Gunning for the same position at their cities newspaper while also secretly being in love with one another gives us plenty of build up that feels natural for their characters and the story at play. They come from very different lives and their independent knowledge and ambitions pair perfectly with one another, two halves to a whole. The pacing was very well done in my opinion. We werent quickly rushed in to anything and were given proper details for all the things we need to know regarding the war and the world we're in. Nothing felt like it was moving slowly either which is tricky when providing lore. Overall I think this book is fantastic and everyone should read it! The ending had me clenching my kindle for dear life and now I have to painfully await book 2 (which I absolutely NEED as quickly as possible).
