Took off a star originally for the headphones cracking when I dropped them, but then added a star back for them being several years old and for the support staff taking the time to help me with a discounted replacement set and walking me through setting it up in great detail. My advice- be gentle with the headphones and all will be a-ok.

This is my second set
This is my second set, first one was purchased from Best Buy and lasted close to 5 years. The transmitter actually still works but I wanted another for my upstairs TV. The headphones lost all of their padding and cracked to the point they didn't really stay on my head, but technically still work as well. Can't really tell much of a difference between the included headphones and my Bose with movies and shows. Music the Bose is obviously better, but for shows I think the Matrix Cinema more than holds its own. Battery life didn't really drop significantly on my old set and has never been an issue, nor has comfort. Really, if the headphones were a bit more durable, they would be completely unbeatable. But I am still happy with the system as it does what I want. I now have the Matrix Cinema headphones downstairs with the old transmitter and use my Bose upstairs with the new one. I'll probably be back to buy another for the camper at some point.

Just got my second set after 5 years of almost daily use
Just got my second set after 5 years of almost daily use. The headphones got almost completely worn out but the little black box still works! Really appreciate that the offer just the headphones as a replacement, had to call the support line to get them connected back up, but now I am back up an running! They even suggested that I could refresh my old set of headphones by buying all new leathers for it. Unfortunately I cracked the plastic on that one so maybe next time!

Had a set of these for 3+ years
Had a set of these for 3+ years. Recently moved down to Florida and lost the little box in the move. Tried to buy another unit online but it made it harder for me to hear the TV and wouldn't connect consistently like this one does. Learned my lesson - returned and bought another one of these. No complaints about this unit, other than it being on the pricey side.

Brilliant concept - take the sound from the TV
Brilliant concept - take the sound from the TV, and make it so only the person watching can hear. Now when the mother in law visits, we are no longer subjected to her TV shows playing on the living room TV at roughly the same volume level as a jet taking off. I managed to set the transmitter up without too much hassle with our aging Panasonic Viera TV, and against all odds was even able to train the mother in law to: 1) Turn the headphones on and off (this is the most important and was also the easiest since it is done via a switch, not a button) 2) Adjust the volume using the buttons on the headphones 3) Unplug the charging cable from the transmitter and plug it into the headphones to charge them when the is done for the night. #3 was a little touch and go for the first couple of months, but by god she's got it down pat now. In my opinion these are the only 3 functions required for independent operation, so if you're buying these for an elderly, half-deaf, mule-stubborn relative, just make sure that you can more likely than not teach them to do these three things. I have no idea how these compare to other TV headphones - they were ones the Best Buy guy recommended - but I do know that their value in avoiding mother in law-related marriage catastrophes is incalculable.
