Not The Cereal It Used To Be
1 out of 5 stars

These are a pale imitation of the Oat Squares I grew up with as a kid in the mid to late 2000s, even compared to what they were a few years ago. They're thinner, taste stale right after opening the bag, are far less dense and less flavorful. They are beyond disappointing. But, what can you expect when products are consistently cheapened and prices are in an ever upward trajectory, all so corporations can have ever increasing profit margins. What's really shameful, is that Americans have now become accustomed to overpriced mediocrity. From this breakfast cereal, to the service you get at a restaurant, nothing but sub-par goods and service.

Horrible - small and the texture and taste are not the same Go back to the original Quaker OAT squares - why did you have to change it ? Reminds me when they changed the recipe on the butterfinger - Get it today and give the consumer what they want - geez!

At first I thought it was me, and that I was just imagining that the serial tasted different, because I hadn't had it in a while. But I see that I was right! This cereal has changed drastically. It hurts me, because this used to be my all-time favorite cereal. Why did you do this? It used to be crunchy, and now it's almost puffy like a corn puff or something. And so small. Please rethink this and bring the original version back!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Just plain awful. Quaker - read the reviews. A majority of your real customer HATE the new recipe. Many of us won't buy it anymore and therefore it's got to be a $ loser for you. Please post on your website when you go back to the old recipe so the previously loyal customers know when to try it again.

The new recipe tastes like cardboard and they are so small. They used to be my favorite cereal and were perfect for snacks. Please bring back the original recipe.

Why did you change your recipe? They are smaller sized and get soggy quickly, nothing like the cereal I used to love. These used to be our favorite, we won’t be buying these anymore.

I love these and have been getting them since my childhood. They good to snack on dry or eat with milk. I wish they’d bring back the cinnamon!

The Quaker Man would like a pair of dark sunglasses, to hide his face in shame. He knows the cereal is not the same. Come on people…you had THE best cereal in the US! Especially the cinnamon squares. Your customers wait almost 2 years for you to fix your production problems and this is the pale imitation that you come back with? Bring back the original!

This is been my favorite cereal since childhood. I just bought a box of the "redesigned" cereal and it's awful. It tastes like a cheap knockoff. They are no longer squares, and the taste and crunch are gone. It seems like I'm eating Styrofoam peanuts. I am so sad and disappointed. Unless you bring back the old recipe, you have lost a loyal customer.

Astonishingly bad since the recall. Chalky, uninspiring flavor. This new rectangular kibble lacks the crunch of the older version.

This has been one of my favorite cereals for YEARS, to the point I'd buy it even when it wasn't on sale. When I had a hard time finding it at my grocery store, I didn't think much of it, but was happy when it showed back up on the shelf. But I did NOT know they changed the recipe! I couldn't even finish my bowl. The flavor is closer to cardboard, the size is smaller, and they get soggy even faster now. So disappointed that one of my favorites is inedible now, and I have a full box of cereal that I'm going to just...throw away.

After the recall this cereal is not Quaker Oatmeal Squares. If I wanted puffed rice I would have bought that. This cereal has no flavor or crunch. I am very disappointed.

This is my favorite cereal besides rice crispies. I don't use milk on cereal. I eat it on the go. These taste similar to fresh waffle cones to me. The crunch is awesome.

I eat Oatmeal almost daily. It's the breakfast I grew up eating, and I still love it. I'm 78, so do the math; that is a lot of Quaker's Oatmeal. I noticed Oatmeal Squares Brown Sugar at the supermarket and purchased a box. I found them to be too dry and lacking flavor.
