KitchenAid Semi Automatic Espresso Machine with Burr Grinder, KES6551

I have had 2 of these machines and they haven't lasted 24hrs. They both leaked water out of the back tank ruining my floor. I would never purchase this machine again and if I could give it 0 stars I would. This has been the worst product I have purchased in my entire life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this machine for about a month now and find it to be an excellent machine, very easy to use, great value and best of all, makes great coffee which is better than most coffees you can buy. Took a few goes to get the grind right but now can make a decent coffee very quickly and without any problems at all. I love how it is so very quiet compared to my previous machine. Very comparable to more expensive machines. The only negative is the quite small drip tray. It would be better, in my opinion, to forgo the small storage compartment at the back of the drip tray and use this space to make the drip tray larger. A very minor issue overall. Otherwise I can find no other fault.

This espresso machine has been a definite upgrade to my old coffee maker, as it is semi-automatic with a built in burr grinder. My first impression was how gorgeous it is and well made this espresso machine is. It definitely lives up to the standards of maintaining the quality of KitchenAid products. It’s a statement piece that looks great on the kitchen counter, or a coffee nook. As for functionality, it is easy to operate and very user friendly, and I love how quiet it is! The buttons/controls are easy to read, it grinds evenly, and the frothing wand is easy to adjust. I absolutely love all the accessories: the portafilter and tamper are a nice substantial weight, and the storage drawer underneath helps keep everything organized. I am so impressed and happy with this espresso machine, and will be recommending it to all my family and friends!

First, I have to say this machine is quiet and brews just fine. It's SEMI automatic, which means you need to do some work ton get the best out of the machine. Now, to address a common complaint. If you read the non-incentivised reviews, you'll see complaints about water leaking from the machine. The issue appears to be the internal drain tube not properly entering the hole in the drip tray cover causing the drain water to drain onto the top of the cover and out of the machine. If you remove the drip tray cover, and install the tray with only the metal front cover, you should not have any issues. I'm not sure why the drip tray cover was designed with a raised hole instead of a flush hole in the cover. An easy fix for KitchenAid is to modify the design slightly. A tip for users: the descale function will output a liter or so of water. The user manual says to place a container to catch the water, but does not state how big the container should be. I feel like this should be noted in the manual. Make sure you are using a suitably sized container --- a small bowl or cup will not do. If the drip tray cover had a better design, I would give five stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i bought this a month ago but have spent nearly 3 weeks sorting out a problem with it not being able to personalise your coffee .....machine turns off before it does it ....3 emails and video and many phone calls later still waiting .....they are always going to get in touch but nothing happens .....very dissapointed as did a lot of homework before purchasing this directly from them and asked all the right questions but still waiting

I have had three of these machines and all THREE leak water out and are unusable. This is the most frustrating machine ever and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. When I called for a replacement, they mention they know these machines do it, but hopefully my replacement won't. Spoiler alert: it did. Do not buy this, put your money towards a much better quality machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love waking up to making coffee with this machine. It allows me to custom grind coffee beans for a perfect cup. It doesn’t take any time and it’s easy to clean. Using this machine daily has helped me save money by not getting my normal iced shaken espresso out. It also tastes better and most all other coffees out are not flavorful enough now that I can make mine custom at home. The water tank is very large and last for a long while even with 3 coffee drinkers using it multiple times a day. I did email the company because my package seems to be missing a couple of items that the box said it has but have not yet heard back. I am hopeful they’re just sending me the missing pieces.

I purchased one of these coffee machines 2 days ago and I have already dialed in my grind. It quietly makes a delicious expresso and the steam wand is plenty powerful enough to create silky microfoam in the milk. Wonderful machine but with one critical fault: the water tank leaks. I returned the machine for a replacement within 24 hours and the replacement has the same issue. When the water tank is seated on the machine, there is an issue with the seal and it slowly leaks water. I have added a rubber o-ring to the water tank part that slides into the machine and no leaks so far thankfully. Fix this water leak issue and it's a 5 star machine all around

I wanted so badly to like this machine, but after months of trying different grind/dose combinations, new beans, different beans, etc I have yet to pull decent shots. No matter what I do they’re thin and watery. I can’t get the pressure into the espresso range. Very disappointed especially given how pricey this machine is.

Leaking Water all over my countertop what a disappointment

We bought this espresso machine less than 1 year ago. Since then we have had ongoing issues with daily use. We have already been given 2 replacements and the issues keep happening. Everyday when we brew our first espresso the machine will shut off and the lights flash. Despite troubleshooting with the recommendations from KitchenAid, the problems persist. I do not recommend this product to anyone that is wanting a reliable espresso machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Has worked great for five months. Now the anti-static device has stopped working. The grinder sends grounds flying everywhere. I the tried cleaning the grinder area as suggested by Kitchen Aid. It’s better for one grind. Then the grinds fry everywhere.

I just unpacked this and had to press the Temp, On, & Start button many different times to get it to prime. Once primed, it leaked water all over my countertop. Kitchenaid has known about this leaking issue and decided to ship me a faulty product, why?

There have been various problems, from excess leakage to insufficient grounds to inconsistent draw to malfunctioning pressure gauge. While we would like a machine that consistently produces excellent espresso, we are very happy with the coffee when it's working. Hoping that the third time's the charm!

I have had this machine for 6-7 months and it started leaking on the bottom. It is extremely unfortunate considering the price tag. I have tried some troubleshooting steps but haven’t had any luck. I will be looking for a full refund.

The grinder was my favorite part, super quiet, fast, and produced the perfect amount of grounds for a double shot every time. The extraction was meh, took awhile to lock in to how we wanted it but still, worked every time. We used it 3x daily. I descaled the machine when needed, and eventually the grinder needed cleaning, but that's normal with any coffee grinder in these semi-automatic machines. One day, however....everything about this machine changed. The grinder stopped giving good amounts, roughly 8-10 grams for a double shot, so we would have to press the button 2-3 times sometimes. Nothing worked to fix the issue. Then the extraction just became NON-EXISTENT. Tried everything numerous times. No matter what we do, the pressure spikes and not one drop comes out, then the machine stops and the power button flashes along with the water button. I've also tried priming the pump numerous times as well. I called the service line and she was nice. She told me to try steps I'd done 5 times ea. Now this machine has gone back in the box. Waving the white flag of defeat. I received this machine as part of a promotion, but if i paid the sticker price i would be extremely upset. This thing is useless now. One other thing, you're supposed to change the filter but there's not an existing filter from kitchenaid to purchase. I found some on amazon but they're different from the one that came with the machine. I will call service back but if i have to pay to ship this thing out to them, it's going in the garbage.
