Just use regular mounting tape.
Normally I think 3M stuff is great. possibly after you've spent all day trying to remove the wall side backing paper. Despite fingernails, a knife, super sharp tweezers, there was no getting that paper to come off without ripping everything apart. Given that, I absolutely do not trust that these are removable, if you can even get it going in the first place.

As many reviewers have stated- it’s impossible to use this. You get the square stuck on your item to hang and then it’s impossible to get the “wall side” liner off in order to stick it on the wall! Really wish I would’ve checked the reviews before buying this. 3M : DO YOU TEST YOUR PRODUCTS???

Terrible Product
These removable mounting squares are so difficult to get the second side (black side) off. My wife and I tried 10 of these and could only uncover both sides of two. Even tried a knife. No luck. The ones we got did not hold very well. Never will buy again.

DO NOT BUY! They have been remade and are functionally useless
The product has changed. It is almost impossible to remove the wall side cover to the adhesive…. Even with tweezers! I have bought this product for years and am so sadly disappointed! I restocked with 2 packs and these are just plain awful. I will not buy again and recommend you not to buy them. I also think the company needs to recall this product! It is that bad. What a frustrating disappointment and these were already expensive for what u get.

I purchased this product today. I would give it zero stars. As another review states, the black backing is virtually impossible to remove which makes the product useless. Scotch should be embarrassed to have approved this for sale.

New adhesive doesn't work
Got these a couple years ago and they worked perfectly. Just got them again and hung two posters on the wall. Both fell a few days later and left adhesive on the wall. I see the package says "new adhesive" so clearly it was not an improvement.

Doesn't work for posters or anything larger than a postcard
Do NOT buy these for anything larger than a post card. They don’t hold onto poster paper well, or even masking tape stuck onto poster paper. Almost everything I’ve put up except for small postcard prints has fallen. Objectively not a huge deal, but they get damaged when they fall, so I say don’t take the risk and get something else.

Removing the backing is nearly impossible!
Removing the backing from these is an exercise in frustration. If there's an easy way to do it, I have yet to figure it out and there's absolutely no helpful info on the packaging. Would it really be so hard to put a little extra on the back which hangs off to facilitate removal. Yeeeesh.
