They use latex in their tape. Most people don't realize this but natural rubber latex (car tires, balloons, some generic bandaids, rubber gloves) are dangerous because exposure to latex products over time is what causes the allergy. This is why the main bandaid brand is now totally latex free (yay) and why the medical field is stopping use of latex gloves. They found a large percentage of medical staff were developing serious latex allergies because of the gloves. My daughter developed the allergy (possibly due to her school using cut up pieces of rubber car tires instead of wood chips in their playground where she went to school for 3 years. There are plenty of latex-free masking tape options because many companies are finding out about how bad latex is.

The roll I received had something about “greener masking tape” on the shrink wrap label, indicating it was made with recycled content or something. I didn’t think much about it at the time. But as I’ve tried using it, the adhesive is quite weak. My kids like taping drawings to the walls with masking tape, and this stuff keeps falling down. It can’t even hold two pieces of paper together. I don’t know if it has to do with its “greener” fabrication or if it’s defective.

The product is good and I use for several things from painting, to sealing bags and labeling. however sometimes it sticks to itself and splits as I try to unroll it causing wasted material [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
