A: The rod has one piece inside the other piece. You slide the pieces to the length needed. There is a small metal piece with a screw that stabilizes and locks the length of the rod. The screw is tightened with a phillips or flat blade screwdriver. I,ve also used a kitchen table knife and think a small coin such as a dime might work.

A: I have found that when you are at the end of the size range, it's better to go up a size. If you don't, the rod will sag in the middle since there isn't enough metal overlap to support the curtain weight. I would buy the larger size based on my experience.

This thing is terrible and dinky. Screw was stripped out and would not tighten. Thought I had it tightened the first time and went to push it in and the tension gave and about cut my finger off

These are absolute garbage. I bought two. One was bent when I pulled it out and the other one has no tension whatsoever. I managed to hang the bent one and it was impossible to get it to stay up with curtains on it. Total waste of money and my time.

Poorly designed, don't buy
This should be so simple to install but the screw that tightens to hold the rod in place gets stripped almost immediately and then doesn’t work. Very poor design.

Dont buy this
The screw that’s needed to set the rod to a certain length does not tighten. It just turns and you can never tighten it.
