I watched Terro’s YouTube video and they emphasized that if you have fruit flies, their traps will work. I can attest that they work well. The video explained that there are similar looking flies, like drain flies. The traps won’t work for other types of flies that can be mistaken for fruit flies.

I seen some reviews that might have swayed me not to get it but I just went for it. It’s true they hang out on top a lot before going in but they do eventually go in. It got rid of the entire infestation of fruit flies! It’s been a few weeks and the solution is dried up and all of the nasty flies are dried up at the bottom I really like terro traps.!
Meh, it's fine

It works, but isnt “fast-acting” like the listing says. Sometimes the gnats just fly around or sit on it, trying to figure out where the smell is coming from. If you want a cheap DIY alternative, just put some apple cider vinegar in a soda bottle cap and hide them around your kitchen. That’s basically what this is, but with a cute container. I would also recommend fixing the problem from the root. Pour boiling water or diluted bleach down your kitchen sink to kill any possible eggs or breeding grounds that may be there. Don’t leave rotting food (or any food) out uncovered, and keep kitchen surfaces clean. Also note: the ACV bottle cap method might be more effective because the flies dive right in. This trap allows the flies to just sit around on it or sit on the ‘ceiling’ of it (just to crawl back out)

Disappointed! I saw a couple of fruit flies sitting on top of it, but they never went in. Did not work at all!

We are sorry to hear this! Fruit flies cannot resist our liquid lure and will eventually find their way into the TERRO® Fruit Fly Trap. However, fungus gnats and drain flies are often mistaken for fruit flies, and these pesky little insects are not attracted to this trap. If you continue to be unhappy with your purchase, please feel free to contact the original retailer for assistance with a refund.

I don’t know how y’all can have them work for you. I would give it a zero if I could. They don’t work at all. I have not had one go in there and I thought it was just the trap, so I bought more which is stupid. And still don’t work. I tried everything and putting them different places also and they still don’t work. So I don’t recommend them.

I always have done a DIY bowl + suran wrap set up to catch fruit flies, but I got these for a friend's apartment. They worked just as great as my at home set up! You can refill them with your own apple cider vinegar + dish soap mixture to reuse the little apple traps.

Did not work. The nats were not attracted to the solution.

Thank you for this feedback. We're sorry to hear that this product does not appear to be working. It is designed to attract sugar ants. If ants are ignoring the bait, then they may not be looking for sweet based foods. We recommend contact killers such as granules, dust, or sprays to help control the ants.
Worth the buy.

These work great! Initially the fruit flies and gnats seem dazed because the smell is very strong coming from the bait so they just hang out by the openings but give it time and they’ll head inside and get trapped. I’ll place a banana near these things and see a drastic reduction within a day. We notice most of the gnats get trapped overnight. It’s not instant but it works better than almost everything else we’ve tried!

The fruit flies are very attracted to it but are not going into the liquid or getting trapped. The outside is covered in fruit flies but only a couple are in the liquid.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. While we are glad to hear that the fruit flies are on the trap, we are sorry to hear that they have not yet ventured inside. Once they land on the trap, they should begin to make their way inside towards the scent of the lure. The product has a 30 day return period at the retailer.

These used to be fantastic but something has changed in 2024. I purchased these in Spring 2024 and something has definitely changed. They used to be a sure thing and now the fruit flies laugh and fly around them leisurely without a care in the world. I am now having to resort to other methods and it's back to the drawing board.
1 reply from Woodstream Team team - 6 months ago
We're sorry to hear that! We have not changed the formula for this product in several years. Often a gnat, drain fly or other type of nuisance fly invasion is mistaken for a fruit fly invasion. As their name suggest, fruit flies are attracted to fruit - they're small, winged insects typically found around ripe produce in your kitchen, near garbage cans and open bottles of wine. If the flies aren’t attracted to the lure, you’re most likely not dealing with a fruit fly invasion. If you continue to be unhappy with your purchase, you may contact the original retailer for assistance with a refund.

It's not that I disliked it, its a cute little apple shaped plastic, but the liquid that goes in is literally a smelly apple cider vinegar! I was hoping for something more powerful than the little cups I fill with acv, covered with cling wrap poked with little holes. But I got the same thing (just a little cuter). I felt kinda dumb spending my $7. At least my acv traps will be a little cuter going forward😅
