Description

Attract and kill the ants you see and the ones you don’t with TERRO Liquid Ant Baits. The liquid, which contains borax, is specifically designed to allow worker ants to consume the product, and survive long enough to carry the liquid back to the nest. Ants consume the liquid ant bait and return to the nest where they pass it around to the rest of the colony. The active ingredient in the bait slowly interferes with the ants’ digestive systems, ultimately killing them.
Since this is a bait product, you will initially see more ants as they are attracted to the liquid – but don’t worry, this is a good thing. After the bait is consumed, insect populations will begin to decline. Complete control may take up to two weeks.

Q: Can this be used outdoors?

submitted by Target Customer - 5 years ago
  • A: They are not designed for outside use. We recommend the Outdoor Liquid Ant Bait Stakes for outdoor use.

submitted byWoodstream Team - 5 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Yes. It will need protection from any children(any age), pets, rain/sprinklers and wind. I have used it near ant hills but once the wind flips it or a shower comes, it is useless. I know what you're thinking: Did it work? Yes for the hill. I have no idea if it got the nest. After I lost a few(due to wind, rain and, once, a mower, I gave up trying. They seem to be effective inside as I put one under the microwave about twice a year and it clears the problem.

Q: While placing Ant trap. I accidently spilled some of it. How can i safely remove liquid?

submitted by AL - 3 days ago

Q: After putting the bait down, the ants start to make little clusters, grouping themselves. The instructions say not to interrupt their activity. Exactly when do I interrupt their activity? Can I kill the ones that are not going back to the main colony?

submitted by AMs Mom - 30 days ago
  • A: Thank you for reaching out to us with your question about TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits. We understand how tempting it can be to interrupt the ants when they begin clustering around the bait. However, it’s very important not to disturb them during this time. The ants need time to consume the bait and carry it back to their colony, where it can effectively eliminate the entire population—including the queen. Please do not kill or remove any of the ants, even if some do not appear to be returning immediately to the colony. There is no reliable way to determine which ants are from which colony, and interfering can reduce the effectiveness of the bait.

Q: Will this product kill fire ants?

submitted by MHawkins - 30 days ago
  • A: Thank you very much for contacting us. Our liquid ant bait is not effective against fire ants or harvester ants, as these species primarily feed on seeds. However, we recommend using T600 Ant Dust or T1700 Outdoor Ant Killer Spray, both of which are contact killers and can help manage fire ant activity effectively.

Q: How many of these baits should you put in a bathroom? Been seeing ants show up in the bathtub. Thanks.

submitted by Vikki - 8 months ago
  • A: Sorry to hear about the ants issue. There is no recommended number of baits to use. Place baits near trails and other locations where ants are numerous. The more bait placements, the better! Thank you for your question.

I have an older bottle of Terro and decided to get the new bait since it was inside a bait trap. It doesn't work. The ants completely ignored it. I ultimately had to use the old liquid bait I have from years ago that is in a bottle and needs to be poured onto a piece of wax paper. Concept of the trap is good, but doesn't work.

I had to use one of the ant baits and it worked. After a day, the majority of the ants were gone and by day two, there were only a stubborn few. By day three, they were all gone. I put a mini crate, turned upside down, over it to keep my pets out of it and safe. You have to be willing to see a whole "highway" of ants going in and out while it works. I'm so thankful that I bought these ahead of time. Every summer, when the weather warms up, the ants show up, looking for something.

This stuff worked like a DREAM. Ants had been proliferating for ages and my exterminator couldn’t get here for a week, so I took matters into my own hands. One day after laying out the traps? Ant population down by like 99%. Never seen anything like it. Cannot recommend highly enough.

When you remove the tab liquid pours out. Then you set it on the floor and liquid pours out. Very messy and not acceptable to be cleaning up a pesticide. Threw away the entire box and bought spray.

Well for starters mine came with only three baits - I think someone must’ve opened it in store and taken the other three. Difficult to separate, and after five days I saw very few dead ants inside and lots of sticky goo had leaked into my concrete. Ants still crawling around near the baits.

These work great for those times of year that the ants seem to try and invade. I was skeptical at first because it seemed like there was more than even the day we put them out but then slowly no more ants! These are our go to for pest control.

The packets aren’t the easiest to open, when they opened they usually had sharp plastic edges that would seem like it would be hard for an ant to climb, and the ants literally avoided this stuff. I put three out right by where I see quite a few ants and literally only a single ant was found on one of them (not even in it). I watched the traps pretty often throughout the day. Don’t waste your money on these, I was recommended advion and I got these instead because they were cheaper and In a store near me (I didn’t want to wait a few days to get the other stuff as I want these ants gone asap) and had good reviews but I wish I just got the other stuff first and didn’t waste money on these pointless things.

I purchased the Terro Liquid Ant Bait in hopes of neutralizing a sudden ant problem in my kitchen. Per directions, you leave the bait out and let the ants feast undisturbed in hopes that they'll bring the poison back to the nest and eradict the problem for you. Day one, the ants found the bait, told all their friends and the ant party was happening in my kitchen. It was annoying, as the ant numbers really increased. I trusted the process and let this continue for several days, even putting out additional traps. The ants continued their steady stream of invasion. 5 days in, the ants continued their march, no decline in their numbers or hunger for the bait. I'd had enough. I packed up the ant baits and went outside my home, and found where they were entering. I ended up using a DIY mixture to spray the ants outside (cover up their pheromone trail). I did this several times, spraying outside and cleaning the ant trail in my kitchen. This worked! These ant traps only worked in that they attracted the ants to feast, but the nest was never eradicated and it didn't solve my problem.

Even though the liquid itself works, it's hard for ants to climb onto this bait unless the open end is against a wall. For example, this bait needs to be placed up under wherever ants are crawling to get them to the liquid.
