Though unconscious and critically injured, Mike Webster is alive--but he is being hunted. His enemies have reason to believe he survived a gunshot in New Orleans, and they are taking great risks to find him.
"I will cut his throat and spit in his face as he takes his last breath." These words launch a pursuit that can only leave carnage in its wake. The individual charged with locating Webster is menacing and devoid of emotion. This cold obdurate killer now has the scent ...
Recognizing his vulnerability, Webster prepares for the oncoming confrontation. He is gaining strength even as his enemies close in ... but will he be ready in time?
There are other complications, too. Webster's physician, Dr. Irene Dunn, experiences a deep attraction to the mysterious man in her care. His appearance and quick wit remind her of the one love of her life.
The enemie edges closer by the hour as Webster braces himself to face whatever may come--to kill or be killed.
Like a cornered animal, run to ground with nothing more to lose, it turns and mounts a vicious struggle for life.
Webster steels himself. He will not go gently ...
Review Quotes
Cheryl Peyton, Author - Fast-paced thriller. A tautly constructed thriller that had me reading into the night. The protagonist on the run is only steps ahead of his nemesis and the denouement is very exciting, placing the reader inside the scene. Very well written and well-edited.
Linda - Very good book! If you like suspense. Very good book! If you like suspense, read all three books in this series! I am on the third one, and don't want to put it down. These books have kept me interested all the way through.
Amazon Customer - Another great mystery! Joe Shumock gives just the right twist in the plot to keep you wanting more, making it difficult to put the book down. Can't wait to start the next one!
John Manuel - Well written and characters come to life. Well written and characters feel real. These characters speak as people speak and feel like people you know. They feel like friends. The plot works well and allows the characters to flurish.
Kay - 5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Suspenseful Book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book. I love the detail Joe uses in his books. Usually, too much detail can get boring to me in a book, but his detail is very clear and really draws your interest. This was full of suspense.
Sara A. Johnson - Loved the book, full of suspence from the first page to the last. You will never guess how it ends. I give it 5 stars.
Jack Wrighter - Hard to put down. This second book of Joe's did not disappoint me. One is kept captive
throughout the book. It is easy to feel yourself being pulled in as though you are living the plot.
Becky Kali - A book you don't want to put down!!! I read this book in three evenings, didn't want to put it down. Mr. Shumock keeps you on the edge of your seat and in suspense of what will happen next. I have already started reading his third book. This is definitely a must read!!!!
Jane Maxwell - Fantastic book! He's alive? The desperate search to find out begins. Surely there's a way to silence him! A read that will keep you submerged to the end. Hooray for Kenny and Irene! Fantastic book!!
George D. McCaskey - Five Stars! Great books but I guess I am more favorable because I went to school with Joe.
