Q: Is this a mineral sunscreen?
submitted by Bella Doll - 18 days ago
A: The Ordinary UV Filters Face Sunscreen Serum SPF 45 is not a mineral sunscreen. It uses a blend of chemical (organic) UV filters such as avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene.

This is a staple in my morning routine. It takes a while but it mixes well with my moisturizer and leaves me looking very glowy and it lasts.

Used this once and that evening washing my face my skin felt tender. The next morning a rash of small bumps mainly on my chin and forehead but throughout the day spread over my face and the next day continued to spread down/around my neck and down to my chest. I dont consider myself to have sensitive skin but I am on the normal to dry side. Becareful if you have sensitive skin, try a patch test

I am seriously in love with this stuff! I struggle with fungal acne and tend to have dry-combo skin. I use it nearly every single day. It soaks into my skin really well. I haven't had any issues with breakouts and it doesn't dry out my skin.

I really tried to make this sunscreen work but every single time it made my eczema flare up like crazy!! It is also kinda oily so if you have oily skin i definitely wouldn't recommend this.
sits well as a base under make up

This sunscreen is great! The serum texture is a nice alternative to thick versions. It does appear greasy at first, but after it dries down, it leaves the most beautiful glow. It layers well under makeup. I have sensitive skin and have had no reaction after using for 3 weeks. Highly recommend!

I have normal skin and I found this sunscreen to be super greasy and does not dry down. I'm also relatively active and enjoy running. I would not recommend this sunscreen for active people because it will sweat right off.

i really liked how thin it was, it started oily but would absorb into the skin well. but after a week and a half of using it every morning, i got texture that i hadn't had before and was the only change in the routine :/
Scary at First… but WOW, the Glow!

At first, I was a bit horrified when I applied it, it looked like it had turned into a layer of oil on my skin. But I bought it based on the reviews and my trust in The Ordinary, and I'm so glad I stuck with it! Once it fully absorbed, I was left with a beautiful dewy glow. My skin feels smooth and hydrated, not greasy or sticky at all!

Was excited to try a new sunscreen. Caused a rash from my chest to my face that has not gone away in a week. Never happened to me before
Not the best, I'd go with Sunbum over this any day

I bought this for a backpacking trip and while I didn't burn, I would not get this sunscreen again. It feels especially greasy and although it's easy to blend into the skin, it made me break out badly. Also, if you sweat your face will develop a white cast that doesn't go away.

I have a combination skin (both dry and oily on some parts) and I bought this whenever it first dropped and it has actually made my skin a bit clearer and its been the only thing/new product ive added to my skincare. Its smooth and hydrates it for me it didnt make my skin feel oily. So i feel it might really just depend on your skin:)

I love the Ordinary products but I hate this one. I have combo skin and although it didn't leave a white cast, my face developed acne after 2 days. It also makes my face look greasy -not glazed-but straight up greasy and gross. If I could return it I would. I'll try it on my body but Im already weary.
I would definitely buy it again

i bought this when it first dropped, and i thought i liked how it felt on the skin. but after a few applications, i noticed it would leave a greasy layer that would stay almost all day. i will say it doesnt burn the eyes, but thats about it. would not recommend

I wanted to love this especially after so many people recommended it. It glides on smoothly when applying and feels good on the skin. However it appears too greasy on my combo oily skin, stings my eyes, and turns my beads of sweat white. Overall not worth it.

This sunscreen works so well that I have already repurchased! I bought this to take to Mexico and not only does it protect from the sun, it doesn't leave any white cast behind and hydrates your skin. I am a very fair skinned girl and will literally burn anywhere i don't apply sunscreen or have clothing covering me and this works amazing at keeping me from getting sunburnt. This might be a new staple!
