Q: Can use my 9 year old daughter

submitted by Ewa - 14 days ago
  • A: Great question! We typically recommend that children 12yrs or older use this paste, however as long as your child understands not to swallow the product they should have no issues using this toothpaste.

The flavor was “improved” and it is not good! I can’t quite explain but I think it is too sweet now with the added xylitol. My husband says it leaves his mouth feeling dry.

Been using this for years, not anymore

They obviously make some kind of change to this toothpaste. It used to be my favorite, only one I used. Terrible flavor now, leaves my mouth feeling gross afterwards now.

    Disgusting

Horrible "new flavor". They added stevia to the toothpaste! Didn't realize it was changed until I started brushing my teeth. This is disgusting. They've ruined their flagship product. Good job, Colgate. Now I have to find a new toothpaste.

    Horrible new taste!

I've been using Tom's Peppermint without fluoride forever. The "new great taste" is horrible! It's not refreshing like the original. There's a terrible after taste and it is sickening sweet because of the xilitol. No thank you. Time to switch brands.

The new flavor is terrible and leaves a bad stevia aftertaste. Won't be buying again and wish I could get my money back. They should remove the false advertising that there are no sweeteners added, when their own website lists that the purpose of the ingredients xylitol and stevia is sweetening.

    New great taste is gross

I’ve used this toothpaste for years and loved it. Now with the new great taste, sorry but it’s gross. Although I bought a two pack, tossing and buying something else.

    DISGUSTING — Formula change!

I’ve been using this toothpaste since I was a child — I have very sensitive gag reflex, and an allergy to fluoride , so this is THE ONLY TOOTHPASTE (and flavour) I’ve ever been able to tolerate, that’s 24 years of using this brand. WHY CHANGE IT? The flavour is identical to the spearmint (which I have accidentally bought on occasion) and is just disgustingly sweet, artificial, and coats your mouth with an unbearable chemical taste. Tom’s — why change this? Why does everything in America need to be overly sweetened?? Along with this (I know this was a while ago) but the change to plastic tubes was also such a let down. I hate when good company’s sell out and become just another toxic brand. Please listen to your customers. Bring the only one back.

Improved peppermint is not an improvement

Been using Tom’s toothpaste for 30+ years. Loved it. Originally bummed by discontinuation of cinamint flavor, but continued on with peppermint. Now you’ve gone and ruined that with a new and “improved” flavor. It’s horrible and now I need to find a new toothpaste. Totally bummed I just bought a four pack of this nightmare.

"New Great Taste" pepperminleaves nasty aftertaste

I noticed the peppermint flavor now says "New Great Taste" on it. I don't know what the new great taste is, but it left a nasty aftertaste in my mouth. So nasty I threw it out. It's kinda sad, I've been using this toothpaste for years, and it's tough to find a flouride-free toothpaste. But I'd rather brush with baking soda than with the "New Great Taste." Maybe you'll like it -- tastes vary -- so go ahead and give it a try. But if you don't like it, baking soda does get that aftertaste out of your mouth.

“Great new taste” is anything but.

Been a loyal Toms customer for DECADES, bought a double pack of what i thought was my usual… it absolutly is not my usual. I don't know what Toms was thinking, but thier "great new taste" is everything that I have avoided in the main stream brands. It's disgustingly sweet, chemically aftertaste and unusable. I now have 2 big tubes of this "stuff" that is unusable. I brushed my teeth with it 15 minutes ago and i can't get rid of the chemicaly sweet taste in my mouth. I am so disappointed.

    New flavor is horrible!

Oh man. I’ve had this toothpaste on subscription for years. Opened up a new tube with the new formula/flavor… NO!!!!! please switch it back. This stuff is sickly sweet and fake tasting and immediately turns to liquid in your mouth. I will have to find another tooth paste if you don’t go back to the last version.

    Too Sweet

The so called "Great New Taste" is not great at all. It's suppose to be Peppermint, but it's too sweet, and doesn't taste like Peppermint at all. It's so sweet, it's nauseating.

    New flavor is bad

I have been using peppermint for years and the new formula is NOT better. It is far worse than the original one. It is not fresh and too sweet. I am stopping the subscription.

    "New" flavor made me gag

We have had this on subscription for about 8 years and after the new flavor arrived, I will have to find something else. This was so awful I gagged. The new formula is a sickeningly (diet) sweet, super goopy texture and has a terrible aftertaste. Big miss here.

    New Formula Tastes Horrible

I have loved this toothpaste up until recently when the formula was changed to include new and unnecessary ingredients such as artificial sweeteners. These additional ingredients do nothing to improve the effectiveness of the product and only make it taste horrible. The new toothpaste is overly sweet and also the sodium lauryl sulfate has been removed. In my experience, this makes it feel less effective at cleaning my teeth. I am so disappointed and I will never buy this product again.
