[1] This router may not support all the mandatory features as ratified in Draft 3.0 of IEEE802.11AX specification. Further software upgrades for feature availability may be required.
[2] Claims about 802.11ax Wi-Fi technology are based on comparisons of the expected maximum theoretical data rates for one spatial stream using 802.11ax at 160 MHz (1201 Mbps) as opposed to one spatial stream using 802.11ac at 80 MHz (433 Mbps) as documented in IEEE 802.11ax draft 3.0 spec and IEEE 802.11-2016 wireless standard specifications, and require the use of similarly configured 802.11ax wireless network routers. Use of 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard requires clients to also support the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard.
[3] Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications are based upon test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate and wireless coverage are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.
[4] Use of DL/UL MU-MIMO, DL/UL OFDMA, TWT, WPA3, 1024-QAM and HT160 requires clients to also support corresponding features.
[5] HomeShield includes the Free Basic plan. Fees apply for the Pro Plan, Visit tp-link/homeshield for more information.

Q: Will this router cover a 3300 sq. ft. home and back yard?

submitted by Sue - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi! WiFi coverage will depend on numerous variables including, but not limited to: - Placement of the router (central location is typically ideal) - Physical obstructions between the router and your devices (e.g. walls, etc.) - Construction materials (e.g. plaster, brick, drywall, etc.) - Distance between the router and your devices - Which WiFi band you are connecting to (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz)

  • A: Hi, Sue! Regarding your question about the TP-Link AX4400 Mesh Dual Band 6-Stream Router: It's very difficult to predict the coverage as it will depend on the placement and interference. As routers go, this one has excellent range and is compatible with a MESH extender if you find any areas it can't reach. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact MyTGTtech at 877-698-4883 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Hi, how does this router behave in an environment where there are several routers working on the same bands, does it give me any advantage over my current router especially 2.4 Ghz band

submitted by victor - 20 days ago
  • A: Hi victor, thanks for reaching out about TP-Link AX4400 Mesh Dual Band 6-Stream Router. You can change the channel to a less congested channel in your area. Otherwise, you can choose 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks, and the 6 antennas/streams will help with connection speeds. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this router need a motom? Or is it like an extender?

submitted by Jake - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi! The router must be connected to your existing Internet source (e.g., modem, ONT, gateway) via Ethernet cable.

Router works fine so far, but the included patch cable is only cat 5e. Why make a gigabit router then include a cable with transfer speeds 10 times too slow?
1 reply from TPLinkSupport team - 2 years ago
Hi Marc, Thank you for your review. We hear your concerns and will be happy to help provide some clarification. Category 5e, or CAT5e Ethernet cabling, is capable of up to 2.5Gbps (2500Mbps) Link Speeds. For a Gigabit (1Gbps/1000Mbps) Ethernet router such as this one, CAT5e is more than sufficient for wired connectivity. Our support team is always happy to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Please feel free to reach out using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly. Thank you, TP-Link Support

I had 8 year old NETGEAR router which worked well during it's time and gave me good service with limited number of devices attached. As the time changed more and more devices like Alexa. Smart Thermostat , Smartplugs, appliances etc. got attached to internet and old router started showing signs of aging and difficulty handling so many devices.. Target had good price for TP Link AX 4400 Router . I ordered it online and picked up within two hours. Installation was easy instructions were very clear and within minutes it was up and running. It had no problem handling all the devices ( total number of devices by now has grown to 27). It is a dual band router which makes it compatible with both older 2.5 mhz and new devices 5 mhz. So far so good. PG

This router is great! We don't have cable so we are constantly streaming. I work online from home, we also have both indoor and outdoor cameras and three teenagers with multiple devices for each of them (gaming devices, phones, streaming shows). My last router just couldn't keep up but this thing has been a game changer! My favorite thing though, is the app! On the app, I can give each device a name (this is helpful as I'm not always tech savvy!) allow or block users or devices, as well as set priorities and set schedules for each device!

I upgraded to the TP-Link AX4400 from a Netgear X4S Nighthawk and overall the performance is on par or better than the Netgear. Getting the router setup is extremely easy using the app or through the web interface, took about 10-15 minutes. The amount of options in the advanced setup can make this router work in almost anyone's network. The ability to configure the Firewall, a VPN, Port forwarding, Access Control, and many other features really make this a great router. I have several streaming devices and also work from home, the AX4400 can easily handle multiple devices streaming in HD while being able to take VoIP calls and video chats. Coverage is really good as well but I will probably add a repeater in the future. The router lives in an upstairs office and the entire house gets coverage but the back patio and garage start to cut out. Overall I have been very happy with this upgrade and would recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade with the ability to control more of your network while maintaining great performance.

The Archer AX4400 Dual-Band Wi-Fi6 router arrived packaged well; installation was a breeze, even for this busy, minimally tech savvy mom. There is a useful app that came in handy during set up, made configuration simple and now I’m able to monitor my connection anytime. I will be purchasing one or two extenders to make my upstairs device connections more reliable. Overall, this router has been great in my 2400sq ft, two level home.

The router was very easy for me to install. I was able to log in and change the router name and password with no problems. The app is also user friendly and easy to navigate. The WiFi range reaches all parts of the house with a higher download rate then my previous router. When everyone in the house is using there devices there is less slow down then previous router.

Archer Dual Band Router. I am very satisfied with this router. We rely everyday on our Wi-Fi at home to stay on and connected , without dropping throughout the day. Although this is not a well known brand, it does the job like it’s supposed to. It handles higher speeds quite well and stays connected like it should. It looks like the standard Wi-Fi router and fits well on the desk.

I live in a rural area and do not have many options for internet providers. The one available to me sucks and the router has helped a bit. Seems to be a great product. My downloads seem to be faster and when a few devices are being used at once the service seems to be better.

Upon using this router, it's so far so good!! It was easy to install and use with our wifi system. The many antennas make it look like a crown, that was just waiting to deliver the wifi to each space in our home. The router is sitting in the upstairs office and allows the wifi to roam through the house, upstairs and downstairs. The speeds are just as fast as they are when using a straight wire connection. It's been great so far and I expect it to continue being amazing!

I didn’t realize this was not a modem and router, so unfortunately it will not work for us. It’s my fault as I should have read the description better. Otherwise this looks like a great product with super fast wifi up to 4400 Mbps.

This thing is so fast and has improved my internet so much since setup which was so easy. The WiFi is way faster than it was before and made it to wear there aren’t any spots in my house that we can’t get internet. It says on the box it works with all internet providers and it does. No issues at all so far.

I immediately saw better overall streaming performance once this was setup and configured. It was easy to setup and so far I'm really pleased with the performance. We have about 30 different devices connected including 4 smart TV's as well as 5 phones and everyone in our home streams video all the time. I was pleasantly surprised at the difference between this new TP-Link router versus my Linksys router that was purchased 4 years ago.

This router is a life safer! My husband has his office in our basement and cannot do Zoom meetings on his laptop because the signal was not strong enough. This router has made all the difference! He can now do Zoom meetings. He is so happy. He can now Zoom for work and not have to use his phone. This router has boosted our signal and web pages load so much faster. I really am very happy!
