A: Since VapoRub is an oil-based medication, it should never be used under or inside the nose, Jules. As mentioned on the label, Vicks VapoRub should be applied only to the chest and throat to temporarily relieve cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation associated with the common cold, and on muscles and joints to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains of muscles and joints. If you're experiencing dry or irritated skin around the nose, we recommend our Vicks Sinex Nasal Balm which provides moisture to help heal and soothe.

Q: Under the drug facts section, *synthetic* camphor is listed, but nothing indicating eucalyptus soil, even though the description states that eucalyptus oil is an ingredient. I am confused, how come it is not listed if it's in here?

I bought and used Vicks VapoRub last week (February 2025) to loosen phlegm from sinus infection/ coughing for the first time in a few years and got a severe allergic reaction from it. My skin blew up in redness, puffiness and I had wheezing and a fever from it. That went away after about 24 hrs when I stopped using it. It was frightening. That never happened when using the product in the past and wonder if the company changed their formula?

I thought it was me. Clearly they have ruined a product that worked Had been around for at least 100 Years no joke. Now it’s useless! How sad! I need to find something else. I’ll try the off brand as someone else recommended. They change products ALWAYS to save money ALWAYS! And they will lose out.

It’s not the same anymore. They’ve changed the formula. As other reviews mentioned, the menthol isn’t as strong and there’s something else in it I don’t like. My parents used Vicks on my 30yrs ago and I regularly used when I’m sick. I’ve gotten this twice in the last 2yrs and still is not the same. The offbrand has a stronger menthol scent and that’s what I’ve been using.
