This isn't the first time I've purchased this device. I can back up multiple systems on this device quickly and efficiently. When it comes to handling migrations, this device is solid, easy to connect, and immediately establishes a solid connection that doesn't drop until I'm ready. A high recommend.

I am returning this. It is way too complicated to install on a Mac computer for someone who knows absolutely nothing about computers. They want you to install all of this software and go through a complicated set up process to allow access to kernels or whatever. It’s just too complicated. I was just trying to use this to back up my computer.

Trusted? That's funny. My 3tb passport bricked after not all that much use. No way to replace the internal drive with another, so the plastic case can go into the ocean or a landfill, never to be used again. Brilliant design WD!

I had a hard time setting up this drive when I first got it a couple years ago. I should've respected the red flags and got another device. Now here I am trying to overnight a Samsung T7 to save my PSD file I need to finsih and submit by Tuesday. My final straw: hard drive mounts and dismounts on its own accord and has corrupted my files as I bought the drive to work off of to solve my scratch disk issues. It worked until it didn't. Regret ever buying this.

This is the second WD My Passport I bought a few months ago. The case is more comfortable to grasp (compared with the previous design), and the texture is good-looking. The actual capacity is 3.63 TB, which should be enough for long-term backup of my videos, docs, photos, etc. It is somewhat disappointing to find that I can't decrypt the drive on Android devices. Overall, the product is good and suitable for anyone with a limited budget and a massive data storage need.

Hello, We are sorry to hear about your user experience with WD My Passport Portable External Hard Drive and appreciate your time providing this review and bringing this matter to our concern. There can a few causes due to which the drive has unrecognizable. Such causes include the faulty USB port of the drive or the computer, faulty USB cable of the drive or the drive itself may not be getting enough power to spin up and register on the computer to show up. Unsafe ejection of the drive during any read or write operation can also result in the corruption of the drive's partition. Best practice is to run diagnostics with WD Drive Utilities when a drive does not perform as expected or is behaving abnormally. We recommend avoiding USB hubs for external hard drives and therefore connect the drive directly to a USB 3.0 port on the computer. We have placed a few helpful links below providing more information for your convenience. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary. This is my third 2TB Passport HDD and the second HDD to fail. The first one lasted less than a year, the second died in less than a month. It was a major hassle to get a return authorization for the first failed drive, the second was a breeze. Perhaps WD knows they're shipping some bad product... The first replacement has been working for several months now; I'm hoping the second replacement will also prove reliable.

We have identified a firmware issue that presents itself in very limited situations and can cause SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V2, SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V2, and WD My Passport SSD products to unexpectedly disconnect from a computer. Full details, including a serial number lookup tool to find out if your product is impacted, can be found on the Firmware Updates for SanDisk & WD Portable SSDs page. https://support-en.wd.com/app/firmwareupdate

I bought My Passport to store very large fine art paintings. It copies them fast, but I should have gotten a drive with more capacity. It takes a bit more time to render them. Other than that, I have no problems with My Passport. It's ease to use, practical, and smaller than my phone.
