Q: Is the Xbox Play and Charge compatible with Xbox series X (newest console) controllers?

submitted by SoBeDaOne - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for asking! Yes, this product is compatible with Xbox Series X/S controllers.

submitted byMicrosoftOutreachTeam - 5 years ago

  • A: its a little spendy but i think its worth it. It essentially makes it like the PS4/5 controller. You put this in and then connect the USB C to the normal controller port (its not a separate plug in like a lot of previous battery packs).

submitted byjustsortofhigh - 5 years ago
  • A: It is for the new controllers that use USB-C as the connecting port on top (the oval shape)

submitted byManilabook - 4 years ago

Q: Is this compatible with Xbox One S controllers?

submitted by IhaveAweirdNAME - 4 years ago
  • A: The battery in this kit will fit in your controller and work, but the USB-C cable will not connect to your controller. However, any standard micro-USB cable will work. So, if you get this kit you'll end up with an extra USB-A to USB-C cable that you may or may not need or want. Look for the Xbox One Play and Charge Kit; model number S3V-00001. It is usually the same price and the micro-USB cable that comes in that kit has a little light on it which is a nice touch.

submitted bySuperJDubz - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for asking! This product is designed for use with Xbox Series X/S controllers, however its rechargeable battery will work with controllers designed for Xbox One as long as you provide a micro-USB cable. The included USB-C cable is not compatible with older Xbox controllers.

Q: Does the Xbox play and charge charge with the port already on an Xbox series X controller or does it need to be taken out and charged from the bottom each time

submitted by Carter - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi Carter, thanks for reaching out about Xbox Play and Charge. You can use your controller to play while the batteries charge. Your controller transmits all signals through the cable until it's unplugged. When the battery pack is fully charged, you can stay connected to your console with the charging cable without using battery power or damaging your batteries. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Does this only come with one battery?

submitted by KJ - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi KJ, thanks for reaching out about Xbox Play and Charge. Q: Is this compatible with the newer Xbox One (microsoft brand) controllers?

submitted by - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi David Clifton, thanks for reaching out about Xbox Play and Charge. The new Xbox Wireless Controller uses the Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable. You can also use the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit; however, you'll need to use a USB-C cable and not the cable provided in the kit. Connect the other end of the charge cable to a USB port on your Xbox. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Doesn't hold charge

Do not buy. I had a similar version for the Xbox One and it worked great. Figured I'd get the same for the Xbox Series X. What a mistake. After 2 years of occasional use it stopped holding a charge and requires the controller to stay connected to charge. Save your money and just get regular batteries. The only positive is the extra long USB-C cable.

WASTE OF MONEY! DON'T BOTHER!

Didn’t even last 90 days. Battery starts dying quickly, then will die completely with the controller plugged in. Xbox doesn’t back their product. Defective product. Waste of money!

Charging is unreliable.

Very inconsistent when charging, sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesn't. I can leave my controller plugged in overnight and it's still wouldn't be halfway charged or will be completely dead, it works when it wants to. Lately I've been having an issue where I have to jiggle the battery pack so to the controller can stop randomly turning off while playing a game. Never really worked right since I got it.

Purchased from a Target pickup order and received a used kit. The seal on the box was broken, the contents smelled heavily of cigarettes and the battery pack had a large crack in it. Will be returning

Short lifespan

This suddenly stopped working after 9 months of light use. Contacted Microsoft support and they say that expected lifespan is 3-4 months. Not worth the price. I will just use regular batteries from now on.

Lasted only two months

What I liked about the rechargeable battery was that I didn’t have to use AA’s and that costed me a lot of money. But this battery only lasted two months and im pretty disappointed because my Xbox controller is two years old and still working. And the reason why is because the rechargeable battery refused to charge. It does hold some battery but wont charge.
