Most period boxes and packs include tampons and often contain pads and panty liners. Gift-style kits may also include extras such as stickers and a small storage pouch.

Period packs typically offer multiple absorbencies—Light, Regular, Super, Super Plus and Ultra—so you can choose the level that suits your flow.

Package counts vary by product: common tampon packs often contain about 30–34 tampons, while comprehensive first-period gift boxes may list around 55 pieces in total.

Most packs include a plastic applicator. Compact-style tampons use a pull-out, extendable pusher you pull, click into place, then push to insert. Some applicators also have an anti-slip grip for easier handling.

Many packs and tampons are labeled unscented or made without added perfume. Several kits also note no added fragrance and BPA-free materials.

For standard applicators, advance the applicator until the grip area is against the body, then push the inner tube (pusher) to release the tampon. For compact applicators, pull out the pusher, click it into place, then push. To remove any tampon, gently grip the string and pull it out slowly.

Products advise not to flush tampons. Dispose of used tampons in the trash as instructed by the product packaging.
