A: I avoid dairy (cheese, milk, all of it) but I made an exception when the ingredients changed on these chips. Fortunately, they don't seem to impact me, so it must not be much. But that is just my experience. If you really can't eat dairy be careful.

A: According to the list of ingredients on the back of the bag, the chocolate "may contain milk."

A: Yes, it is absolutely dairy-free. My husband's lactose intolerant, so I did my homework before making a flourless chocolate cake for him. Some may have dairy from the fat they use, like butter, but this product uses cocoa butter, which is the oil extracted from the cocoa. So no worries!😄

A: Guittard chocolate is comparable quality to Ghirardelli & is "Free from 14 allergens & sensitizers" including dairy. I like the Guittard Extra Dark Chocolate, which is 63% cacao.

A: I agree. But then, it is consistent with the prices of other chocolates, so I can't single them out.

A: Ghirardelli Bars, Squares and Shapes are made in a facility and on shared equipment with products containing the following tree nuts: almonds, pecans, hazelnuts, cashews, and coconut. Ghirardelli chocolate chips (60% Bittersweet, Semi-Sweet, Mini Semi-Sweet, Non-Dairy, and Milk Chocolate) are not produced on shared equipment that run tree nuts. However, our chips are produced in the same facility that produces tree nut containing products. Peanuts are not used in the manufacturing facility for Bar, Squares and the following Chocolate Chips: 60% Bittersweet, Semi-Sweet, Semi-Sweet mini and Milk Chocolate.

While some of our premium chocolate products do contain gluten, either as a cereal ingredient or barley component, we also offer a selection of chocolates without the gluten-containing ingredients, making them a wonderful option for those with dietary restrictions.

A: As of January 1, 2023, the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard requires disclosure of bioengineered (BE) food ingredients on labels. We are pleased to confirm that Ghirardelli chocolate and cocoa powders (excluding baking mixes and sauces) do not contain bioengineered ingredients and are not required to be labeled as such.
